I've had my 2004 LS V8 Ultimate for 3 months now, it just dropped dead for the third time. Same problem all three times, driving along and the engine just quits. It will restart, but will not stay running. First time they replaced the throttle position sensor & throttle body, second time they replaced mass air flow sensor. I read other people who have had bad coils causing RF interference, I called the dealer the second time to make sure they checked this, they said it was definately not a coil issue.

Lincoln roadside assistance has been terrible, their one hour promise is wishful thinking and I've heard "not our fault the truck didn't show up" and "out of our control" half a dozen times. On the phone they agree to tow it back to the dealer I purchased the car from, but when the truck shows up they tell me that it's going to a different dealer because it was over 35 miles. I get home and mapquest it, it's only 31 miles.

Mine wouldnt shut down, it would go into failsafe mode and wouldnt respond to the gas pedal until you pulled over and restarted the car. They started with the throttle body because thats what the codes suggested but it ended up being four bad coils. I'd think your problem is along the same line. According to my service tech when you visit the dealer for a warranty fix more than twice for the same thing they are required to contact Ford and do a more extensive fix for the problem. Every dealer is different though. Just be persistant with them.

They told me they were waiting for a call back from the Ford tech people the last time when I suggested coil problems. I'll be pissed if it has new coils on when it comes back the next time. They insisted that even though the symptoms were exactly the same, they were two completely different issues the last two times. I imagine they're going to tell me that this was completely unrelated as well.

FLA02 your Failsafe mode turned out to be a coild problem too?

I never got any kind of failsafe message.

The car sat at the dealership over the weekend, it started right up Monday morning and there are no stored trouble codes. They said it stalled on them once while they were testing it, but it started right back up.
