finally after 3 tries, my exhasut is done and LOVE the sound and performance....first i installed Borla mufflers took ...beautiful deep v8 sound, shoudve actually stay with those, but did some research and wanted to upgrade the H pipe in favor of X...so i did it , doing that i also figured i take the resonators outand install new Arden mufflers...and here we go hehe, exhaust note much quieter at idle, but at high rpms (3400 -up) it had this weird farting sound, i was like WTF?? so i fgured maybe its the cheap x-pipe i bought( u could see that on the inside it wasnt smooth , it had like a little thin walls sticking out on welding spots) i figured the sound was bouncing aginst the outgoing gasses hence creating the "farts"...so i got another x pipe, smooth inside as babys ass hehehe..anyway , it didnt help..i was like WTF??? so here we go again....i went to local friendly ford delaer to change tranny oil , and to my luck next to my Jag was an LS on lift , V8 as well...so i took a peep at something and....founf out you LS guys dont have an H pipe????im like ok....so no more thinking....once home i ordered new high flow resonators , they came, went to fix it for the last time....removed the x pipe, installed the resonators....and.....

VOILA, beaitiful
deeper thenfirst with Borla mufflers and....ohh sooo sweet while under load accelerating, like a big V8...wow, recommend that setup to anybody, dont know how the Magnaflow sounds...but definitely dont remove your resonators on the v8 cars hehehe9 i took the out since i was always removing them on my 4 cyl. cars and didnt hear any difference) and i have no clue why it does the farting thing on a v8

the fart sound comes from having a X-pipe along with chambered mufflers. I had the same sound until I put the resonators back in. Then it was a low V8 rumble.

At least you did not install the Flomaster 40's with no resonators! Then you would be "farting" and "vibrating"!

Pre-'03 LSes have an H-pipe. '03 and newer have a crossover/X-pipe inside the catalytic converter.

hmmm...if i would seen anything that looked like and H or X pipe on that 03 LS , i wouldnt get rid of my X pipe....

ohh sorry just noticed you saying "inside cat conv." ...well , i didnt look at the cats, casue usually those crossover pipes are at the end

Do you install exhaust systems yourself? I am in NJ and the gears in my head are moving.....

A true X pipe is worth hp...but it gives a different sound. And Dr. Gas was the innovator. His is more than an X...it is designed to improve scavanging, balance, and hp. It flat works. That's why the NASCAR boys use his. But it does mellow out the sound. But on my old 5.0 car, the sound was incredible.
