I believe using a Timesert kit is the way to go. You don't have to buy a new head.

Thanks for the replies you were right..easy fix.....actually NAPA carries a HeliCoil kit specifically for the 4.6 since it happens so often. .....even a dummy like me can make it work....

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Z.

I've heard the Timesert is superior to the HeliCoil, just saying'.

Thanks JP.......couldn't seem to find a Timesert quickly but the HeliCoil was just "down the street" and I needed to get up and running quickly, guess we'll see how good it is.

Excuse my ignorance on this one, I need educated.
This is the first post I have seen on this subject and it leads me to 1 dumb question:
where did the plug go? where it went....how could it have not done any damage...or
did it come out with the COP?
Thanks

I was wondering the same thing, think he meant that it no longer resides in the hole. It can't really be gone unless it had so much force to shoot straight threw the cop and cover, which I don't see being possible. If by some miracle it made it into the CC it would've most certainly taken that cyl with it.

The plug bobs up and down on the compression and intake strokes and eventually no threads left.

lol...not a dumb question at all,I was surprised when I looked into the hole and it was empty....it was still in the COP spring.
