Its seems from most of what i've found that aftermarkets such as msd or accel don't provide much if any more power. Some have said it seems to accelerate and run smoother but not much more power. And most people say that compared to stock the extra power they provide isn't needed. However what I was wondering is what kind of performance the coils are at after 12 years and 115,000 miles. I was thinking about this when my friend replaced his alternator the other day. It was working but when tested before replacement maxed out at 9 volts. Wouldn't a similar thing happen as the coil ages and in this scenerio might at the same price an msd be worth it?
