anyone know if the engine parts in the Ford tremor show truck ever made it the street?

i want 5 valves per cylinder and 380 hp from my 4.6

dammit

"quoted from popular mechanics"

FORD TREMOR
The ground shakes when you twist the key in Tremor. In addition to an open exhaust, 380 horses are lolling around in this Explorer-based sport/utility's all-aluminum 4.6-liter 40-valve dohc V8. That's right, five valves per cylinder.

But even with the engine at rest, the styling touches on this truck scream for attention.

Production Explorers are saddled with a solid rear axle. But the awd Tremor coddles its occupants with an independent rear suspension. Two-way adjustable gas shocks, a rear stabilizer bar and a 2-in.-lower ride height all contribute to solid handling.

Putting the 4900-pound 4-wheeler to the test yields quarter-mile excursions in less than 15 seconds with 0 to 60 mph in the high-6-second bracket. And should the need arise to beat the big bad wolf to grandma's house, a top speed of nearly 140 mph is just a push of the pedal away

No, he is correct. I remember the Tremor, and Ford did indeed develop 5 valve heads for that truck, but they never went along with it.

it is Popular Mechanics, i'm sure they meant 32v..

yeah,i also have the motor trend article on the trempr 40 valve.

it had variable valve timing too,

i just quoted pop mech, because i found it easily online .

i really want that engine, imaging that engine with a blower to boot!

my guess is they nixed the 5 valve in favor of the 3, cuz the 2 extra valves sap hp because of added weight in the valvetrain.

and yet that 5 valver makes 80 hp more than the 3 valver ,and that was 9 years ago too,

i think it had more to do with cost than hp.

You guys are nuts.

It only takes 16 valves and one camshaft to make power.

Paul.

My guess is they nixed it because it is expensive as hell.

oh most def it was cost that was the final killer....but as we all know prototypes of supercars are always much more powerful than the actual production model....(genos supermarkvs03/4 Cobra)
