Bibb substitute teacher disrobes in front of fourth-grade class

A substitute teacher who worked her first day Wednesday at Bruce Elementary School took off all her clothes from the waist down in front of a class of fourth-graders, according to school officials.
"They noticed she started to disrobe," said Bibb County schools assistant superintendent Sylvia McGee. "From her waist down, she was totally nude."

McGee said the substitute, whose name was not released, may have been on medication at the time, because after students went to another classroom to tell another teacher, the substitute was found in the classroom "nonresponsive."

"We've never had this to happen," McGee said.

Since October, the substitute had been on an approved list to teach and had been screened in a background check, McGee said.

She has since been pulled from the substitute list.

Bruce students were sent home with letters Wednesday explaining the incident, and a school psychologist talked to the class of 20 students Wednesday and today, McGee said.

"We think it's best she not return to substitute in the district," she said.

We just had a Sub expose himself under the desk (which had an open front) to students here.

After pleading guilty he now says that he had a rash and need to scratch..."Right"...

He had been one of our most reliable subs and played the game well. Everyone liked him, acted very professional more than just a babysitter.

We still have teacher talking about how much the like the guy... I keep telling them that was his game.. He used you and did it well.

My personal thought before this was, How come this guy doesn't have a permanent job. He seemed too good to be just a sub.. why wasn't he looking for permanent work.

I guess my suspicion had value, not that I felt he was a real turd.
 
What's the process to be a sub? Does it just take a bachelor's degree or is there some sort of certification and screening?

Less than that. Where I'm from damn near anybody could be a substitute. I remember one kids mom used to always sub when I was in elementary school, she appeared not to have a lick of sense or the silghtest degree of any education..
 
My girlfriends brother is 26 years old, hes a sub in NYC and it didn't take him anything to get in. He will sub anywhere from 2nd grade to 12th grade and handicapped students both mentaly and physicaly.


I would imagine it is different in certain areas or school districts

In the State of Wisconsin all you need a a bachelor's degree in any area and pay $200 to the Department of Public Instruction for a license. There is no screening… nothing.

But for the amount of money a sub gets paid I doubt any would take the job if there were more requirements. (not that I don't feel there should be).

In Wisconsin each individual district set their pay for subs.

A few principles ago our district would require that all sub stay active the entire day. If your students go to a special like art, music, or phy ed the sub was to go to the playground and monitor students (they were not allowed to prepare for the coming lessons or consult with other teachers about how to deal with the difficulties they were having with class work or students).

For those of you out there who remember... the sub game when you were in school.. Sink the Sub...

There is no way that when I'm finished teaching that I would never sub...

MESPOCK Last year I ruined my PC screen trying to smash the BUG or FLY.

Yup, all good here, weather been cool, but mild. No emissions testing for my car here either, which is nice.

Yeah, the politics are abit better... But, that's not saying much, as the British government is a complete joke.

Stop by when you head back up North! (I'm 20 mins from JR (the big cheap cigarette place) on I 95.
 
Yeah, it's not hard to be a sub in Missouri either. You just need so many college credits. In the city a sub could be a full time job, they were always needing subs in St. Louis. You could work 5 days a week without a problem.

It's Missouri law that you have to be finger-printed and a criminal background check to work around children or the elderly though. It's not foolproof and it doesn't weed them out until an incident occurs but it's the best they can do without a long psychological test on everyone.
