5.0 H.O true HP rating

225hp is what ford said it was until they derated in 93' to 205 but some say that was mainly to make the 4.6 DOHC's 215hp look like an improvement.also there were some changes made between 87'-90' that ford did not include in the hp ratings.so What is the 5.0 H.O true HP rating?

It was some odd number after everything had been tallied. It wasn't derated so much as the rating was changed to accurately reflect what the engine was making after changes had been made through the years. A cam change in '88 or '89 lost 3-4 hp. A couple other things happened as well. I forgot the exact number though. It might have been somewhere around 210-215. it's covered in the Fox Mustang guidebook authorized by Ford.

I read they dropped it in 93 because of the Cobra. It was only going to be rated at 235 so they lowered the GTs to make a bigger seperation between the 2.
