I feel like stirring up trouble.
Has anyone converted a mark from this new fangled crap with DOH(_)C(rap) back to the proper pushrod Windsor power? I'm sure I can make more power off the brute cubes alone. :joke.

Ok seriously has anyone put a Windsor SBF or even better a 460 or something into a MkVIII, I mean the engine bay is down right caverous to be able to swallow the DOHC 4.6 so it should fit easily. I don't want to hear the inevitable "why would you want to" Thats not what I asked and with that disclaimer I am fully aware of the question.

Thanks,

my mark III has the 460 and let me tell you there is no why in hell it would fit in my markVIII with out majer work. and the DOHC can make the same power with a better RPM range. iv had the 460 up to 7000Rpm and it was not fun. the dohc is hot and that is what makes the new marks like the old. but Don't think I have not considerd swaping the 460 for the 4.6 but it was more to have a markIII W/ DOCH power. the byproduct would be cool as hell to.

The 4.6 dohc is wider and taller than the 460. I'm sure you could make one fit, but that sob is gonna be HEAVY.

There was a guy on one of the other mark 8 boards planning a 351W swap into his mark 8.

how lond is it And it has at least 100LBS on it easy you can make any thinf fit with enaf time and money, but is it worth it? no

the 460 has to have atleast 100+ lbs on the 4.6
4.6 is getting 1 hp per cubic inch.
something very hard to do.
the 460 will drink way more gass then 4.6
but just think if you dropped a 460 in you'll have lowered the car. if the air bags don't pop . and the compressor would most likly last a week.

ya but it would be cool my markIII gets 4MPG now And I dont drive it at all, and it is for sale hint hint

Good luck selling a Mark VIII that gets 4mpg.

If anyone wants to know what a "mountain motor" looks like in a Mark VIII...do a search for "animal Jim's" pro-stocker.

anyway, installing a pushrod motor into a Mark VIII, is like installing a rotary engine in a SUV...why bother?

With that extra weight the handling would be off and likely to push like a fwd into corners. Maybe cured/helped with some custom handling/suspension work. Plus correct me if i'm wrong but if you tested the 4.6 dohc beside a 460 how much advantage would it have. I can't see how it would be able to revv up as quickly or perform as well at upper rpms as a more modern engine without new cams, pistons, heads connecting rods, induction etc... The 460 can be made to make big power but without alot of work and money alot of those older cars aren't as quick as you'd think or in some cases remenber them being.

Didn't I say something about not wanting to hear why??? I know it's heavier, makes less power per cube....blah.... blah... blah. I'm not thinking 460, I'm thinking 351W with a Motown Lite AL block and a pair of turbos.... I just wanted to point out that a 460 would fit. DOHC is nice, but also nice and big. If you use that room to fit something more powerful, sounds good to me. Now back to has anyone, not why would I want to ok?

hey Its a Mark III (3) not 8 I would never sell the 8. if I chang the carb and tune it right I can get it back to 10Mpg.

A pushrod in a Mark VIII? HERESEY!

Actually, there's a guy on another Lincoln board swapping a 347 Stroker in a 93.

Thanks,
i have seen a v10 in a mark8 itcame out of a ford truck i don't know if it was this ite or another one but the way he explained it it was pushing 500 hp and was cheaper than to have super chargers put in
thats what i'm looking at doing

Now that is the type of swap I'm thinking is awesome, though what kind of mileage do you get out of that truck beast? I still think putting a twin turbo 406 351 based stroker in there would be an awesome way to make some serious power without breaking the bank considering you can break even or better picking up your 351 core, though an Aluminum block would hit you in the wallet kind of hard. Too bad all I do is dream and never have the resources to try any of these crazy ideas.... I need to win the lottery in OH this week, 121 Mil!

Back to the pot shaking,
