Would it be possible to swap a 5.4L motor from either an F-150 HD or a lightning into the mark using the stock trans. And i doubt that the blower would be able to stay under the stock hood. What are the specs on the 5.4L S/C'ed?

yes you can, but as im told it would require a lot of moddifying to the engine bay. ( personally i wanted a 6.8 v10 )

380hp. 450 lb ft.

screw it its a sohc anyway people have done it in t-birds but they got a sohc to start with and no way it would clear the hood, get a 03 cobra blown dohc still wont clear the hood but at least still a dohc

I think on another message board I was reading about a guy getting ready to install the Aviator motor into his mark. Isn't that a 5.4 DOHC?

you can get them sorta cheap.........

A Mark VIII with a Cobra R hood and a Navi engine would be pretty damn sweet...

An 03/04 blown DOCH roots blower will clear a gen 2 hood.

I know this is a old thread but i was wondering is the only problem that the navi engine is to tall for the stock hood. or is it also to wide because if it being to tall its the only problem the that would be a very interesting idea to think about in a year or so cuz like he said a cobra r hood would fix that problem.

I do not see why a 5.4L wouldn't fit. Al Papino has been running a 5.4 DOHC in his 97 Cobra for years. I would think we had some more room in the engine compartment then a Cobra. It is by far a direct swap. I ahve been thinkin about this if I ever get to turn mine into a project car.

yea that was what i was thinking if ford fit one in the cobra R then it has to fit in our cars i would like to do this too in a couple years it would be sick.

I was under the impression that the intrusive shock towers of the SLA front end of the Mark VIII would be a problem when it comes to fitting the wider 5.4 engine.

From what i have read about some of those 5.4s, they are weak, heavy and suffer from thrust face bore wear.

5.4 SOHC, its been done.....go to tccoa.com theres even a walkthrough.......

5.4 DOHC.....no way, too wide.....

youd think wed have more room than a Mustang, but we dont....remember, our chassis was designed around the 3.8L, with the V8's (5.0, 4.6 SOHC, DOHC) shoved into our bays later on.......
