Ok theoretically I have over $50k to spend but reallistically I wouldnt do that. Just refinanced $75k worth of debt. Paid off my 2004 Ultimate V8 so let the games begin! Im really only looking for speaker and wheels/tires upgrades. I have my mind set on the Head Unit. Kenwood all the way. Pretty sure on the wheels. The guy that had the black and chrome 22s posted here a few days ago but only in a 19 or 20 if they make them. Suggestions? BTW my LS is black with the rear spoiler or decklid or whatever it is called. Ken Garrison chime in please!:)

id definatly start off with sound. start off with a kenwood indash tv, not sure the model number, but the one that looks factory. then replace all speakers and add a little bass. tint your windows if not already done. then go for exterior mods. id go with black rims, id say 20s but everyone else will disagree. angel eyes are a must for the ls.

Yea the black 20s will look good on a black LS for sure. Good sounds are important too. Get a chrome grill, LSE grill would look really good. Cleared headlights and clear sidemarkers.

The angle eyes look hot, but it's a BMW thing and personally I wouldn't put em on LS. I see a lot of different cars have em now, such as hondas and even some trucks, aftermarket headlights of course, but on the LS I wouldn't.

Thanks guys and I agree on not messing with the lights. no bang for the buck IMHO. Im almost 40 and my crowd wouldnt even notice! Tint sounds good. In cali Im really limited as to what I can do though. Rear only unless I want to reisk a ticket every now and then. BTW was thinking about the all chrome grill. Might add some flash/bling huh? I love the factory look but need to see some more pics of the all chrome. Thanks again.

How about just upgrading to an '06 LS with THX/NAV????

Uhhh is that a joke?

No. I just traded my wife's 2001 LS for a 2006. I know about the upgrades (I even drove the 2003 prototypes when there was a sport V6 and a base V8) between the two, but IMHO, the 2006 is lightyears ahead of the 2001.

If you already have the NAV/THX, why change the sound? Lincoln went to a lot of expense getting the THX certification.

If you don't have it, try it out.

i have an 04 with THX/NAV and yes you can add a mod so you can watch tv or play DVD's on the NAV without loosing any functionality and the sound is SUPERP never heard anything soo clear but the downfall is that even though its 280 watts its still not high enough for me and if you want to upgrade the amp and speakers then you will loose the quality unless you upgrade with THX sertified aftermarket stuff but that is very costly ( i started to look into that) by the way since you have the ULTIMATE V8 04 witch is by the way the same one i have dont you have the THX/NAVI already.....

Ok guys you are missing the point. I JUST PAYED OFF A 2004 ULTIMATE! Why start all over with payments when the car is damn near mechanically identical to what I have? Im looking to enhance what I have. Maybe your pockets run deeper than the Grand Canyon and you can afford to upgrade your vehicle just to get a better stereo but I cant. And yes I have an Ultimate but the Nav system was an option, not standard. I have the in dash 6 cd built by alpine and I cant stand it. Thanks for trying though guys.

I only mentioned it because you said you were going to spend a lot of money on your LS. I figured if you were going to spend in the $40K range to update your present LS, then the better value would getting an '06, IMHO. If all you want to do is upgrade speakers (which I heard isn't all that good of an idea if you have the Alpine), there are many out there. I have the base in-dash 6 disc changer in my 2000 and added an Rockford Fosgate amp, Polk component speakers up front, 5X7 Infiniti Reference speakers in the rear and some Pioneer (don't recall the model) 6X9 3-ways in the rear deck. It really doesn't compare to the THX in my '06.

IMO I think you should just stick to some basics: wheels (black w/chrome lips), tint the windows (I live in Cali too and get pulled over every now and then but it's not so bad), sound system (in-dash, subs), and if you want, do a couple of performance mods like an intake and/or exhaust. But then again, that's what I would do.

go 20 all chrome if you trying to live like a pimp.......rolling around town driving 30mph an hour.....with the bling. i'm 29 and i'm done with all that. you buy a lincoln ls and you get what you pay for. like everyone else says, after 20 years, the ls WILL be a classic....more mods you make, cheaper it'll look. if you wanna lowride, go 20s. if you want performance, go 18s on 45/50 or even 19s, maybe a replica of quik ls's supercharger, new x-pipes with mufflers and black tips. ls is pure luxury.....other way to twist it is to turn it dirty....little hints of chrome, black wheels, black tips, and alot of horses.....you got yourself a performance car...now you can intimidate the cts-v, sts, dts, dhs (royal blue, white walls with gold trim, and navy blue ragtop is off the hook), charger, magnum, 300, etc. etc. this is all my opinion though. just like how you want to be as a person......you can be wearing your bling on your neck, zirconias on yo teef, and all this and that shiznits, but who are you when you get home?? you're just like everyone else. never try to be someone you're not.....unless you want to be fake. all in all cars are made to perform, not to just drive and show off. heck, you drive it everyday, might as well maintain it and keep it running as long as you can. 20s will kill your suspension.......but then again, you can always minus that from that 40k. keep it real....none of that top 10 music video clips unless you really live that life and smackin' bout 4 breezies a night.

your car already looks real nice.

there aren't that many ls on the road, so you don't real need to set your self apart with bigger rims. the good looks of the ls already set it apart from the rest. the lss that need better rims are the people that have the 16 inchers(ugly design IMO). Your stock rims are very clean, and look as good as most after market rims.

just get a better sound system, and maybe some light tint. spend like 2k or 3k and you should be set.

oh ya, don't you live in palo alto... maybe you might want to add a better alarm :)

If you are looking for wheels Boze has some damn nice ones! I have a set coming for my LS and there are two other LvC members here that have bought them too. I can't wait to see them mounted. Take a look at those on my website. I haven't put all the Boze wheels on my website but you can see all of them at www.bozeforged.com. If you see something there you like let me know.

Also, there are numerous things you can do to the '04 which is upgrade it to an LSE. Ford is the only one selling the LSE kit but it is available. Also, there are grilles, StopTech brake kits, intake and exhausts. Man, the options are limitless!

What do you want to do?

Mike,

Is that the Dark Cherry color? I love that color! I was thinking of getting the exact same color. Pretty sweet setup your wife has there.

Yep!! She sees too much purple in it, but didn't want black either. I'll send some better pics to you.

Thread hijackers!!:) Thanks for the suggestions all. Wheels and sound system soon. Maybe all chrome grill and Ill poke around Ken's website. Still cant believe someone suggested going from a perfect 04 to an 06!:)

If you're doing the entire sound system, you will lose all your DSP functions. If that's OK, then contact Bill Jenkins at www.teamfordlv.com. He has a unit (some here have used it and I don't remember the brand) that has a nav built in. His price was, IIRC, in the $1500 range. Contact him and he will be able to hook you up.

If it were me and God I wish it was, I'd do:

Exhaust System
Angel Eyes(not many at all here w/ them, help set mine apart even more)
New wheels and performance tires(not too much performance, just better than stock, no bigger than 18").
Bigger brakes
LSE Kit
Re-do the rear(kind of like a pic Ken photoshopped, had the idea since I got the LS though)
Upgrade sound system
More gauges so I know what the car is doing(oil gauge and what not)
Look for performance upgrades to get alittle more HP, just over 300 would be nice.
All I can think of for now.

Oh, forgot about having a hood made that has scoops but is not overly-done and looks perfecto.

Neither of these are really appropriate for an '04. Changing the exhaust is a minimal gain of power for the outlay of cash, and, last I heard, there aren't any angel eyes for it (new sealant, plus different sized high- and low-beams).

The LSE kit would be a good one, plus adding the goodies like Sirius (or XM), MobilEase (Lincoln Bluetooth phone adapter), and remote start. Nicer wheels and better tires would be worthwhile, too; an LLSOC member found some 19" Ferrari wheels that looked absolutely killer on his car (with an offset very close to what the LS uses, no less).

In addition to the LSE kit, I would be getting a body-colored steel mesh grille, like ls4me has on his LS.

But I would be giving serious consideration to ls4me's suggestion of trading it in on an '06, too.

If I had the Cash..

I would go straight performance...I would wait a while to see if the SC comes through with Quikls and I would definently get a set of those wheels from Ken @ LsKoncepts, Those are smokin!!! In an 18" I heard if you go 19's u r really limited to your tire selection. Tint the windows of course u almost have to on a black LS. For looks go with the color matched grill and possibly the LSE kit.

Guys I said realistically I wouldnt spend 50k on a car. That title was more of headliner. I plan on doing stereo, wheels and maybe some performance upgrades. Havent had a chance to poke around Kens website in awhile but that will be one of my starting places. LSE kits are out. I like the look of my ultimate with the rear spoiler from the factory. Really thinking about the all chrome grill also.

it seems most or all ferrari wheels have same bolt pattern and similar offset to LS. There are a BUNCH on ebay...and VERY VERY VERY nice....

Sup Man? Names Lee,I'm 22,I live in GA! I've got 20" Giovanna's with 245/35/ZR20 Pirelli tires on a 2000 Ls V8. Paid almost $5,000 for them. Now I'm back to 16's with a broke transmission. The weight of the wheels and of course the foot in the gas tank tore something up. Now I have no 5th gear and it slips at full throttle. The wheels looked killer as hell but scrubed on really bad dips in the right rear. I say go with the 18 or 19's to prevent scrubing and to save your tranny. I also have the chrome billet horizontal Grille, really sets the car off. I plan on getting tranny fixed and putting wheels back on but not going to drive the car, strictly show. Gonna get it painted with Lse body kit, suicide the rear doors, and I'm currently checking on some air struts so I can tuck the Gio's. I kept the Alpine system but add 2 12" Alpine type-X. Really lets off a thump now. Got 7" monitors in the headrest for my little girl and thats all I'm gonna do for now on the interior. Got a digital cam for christmas so when I get the wheels back on I'll send U a pic. Go 18's but keep'em spinning with some Oasis Cris spinner Rims! (look them up) I'm thinking about selling my 20's and getting these. They are tight as hell.
