Hi
Is anyone familiar with the loss of vacuum affecting the air conditioning? When I accelerate with the ac on, it changes over to heat and defrost.

Thats because for the heater door to be in the AC position you have to have vacuum. When you push harder on the accelerator pedal the engine produces less vacuum, leaving you hot when you are in the hills. I would go over the system and look for leaks though. . . on a car that old you'll never know what you'll find.

Ac

I have a '92 ford van that does the same thing.
On any hills or hard accelerating the ac shut off and hot air blew out.

At first I figured it was to save power, the AC compressor would switch off,
but a couple months later the system just wasn't charged anymore.
Now i'm figuring it was just needing a recharge or leaking.
