The car has many problems,

1. When the car is driving and you have your foot only a 1/4 on the gas, the car shakes, but when you gun it, the car is smoother then anything and doesnt have a problem.

2. Today when i tried taking the car out, it was revving extremely high in all the gears except for park. The car wasn't going into reverse, but then i got it to go into reverse and it was fine, EXCEPT that when i hit the gas it sounded almost like it was gas firing, Backfiring , whatever, I think it may need a newintake, as well as a tuneup, the car has 137,000 miles on it.

Any suggestions to what I should do.

It sounds as though your transmission linkage has problems, same thing happened on my Uncle's Kia.

Let me guess, when it finally does shift, it does it really slowly. Take it to a shop or a dealer (more reputable), and have them check it out. From the way it sounds, you probably don't need a new transmission or even a rebuild on the one you have to get back the performance you had from it before this started.

The way an automatic works when the linkage is messed up, is to revv up and then force its way through the gears, and when shifted into reverse, it will rev, then engage. It will be slow to engage, easy going in park, and will elongate shifts. If these are your problems, then fixing the linkage is most likely the solution.

Good Luck,

Well the car has no problem driving once im going, like when im in OD, the car is fine, except it kind of shakes when im driving it, and the cars speedometer is still moving up so i dont get it, What could cause the shake when im driving it? AT LOW SPEEDS,
Like i said when the petal is to the ground or close to it, i have no problems, Low Speed Problems.

Start witha tune up. When is the last time you changed the plugs and wires??? 4.6's eat wires like no other. You would be suprised the issues they cause.

I am having the same problem with my 91 Town Car, thanks for the info Pepsi2185.

Try the tune up, because no matter what, you aren't losing a thing. I find this tactic works very quickly to find out whats wrong:

Go to the dealer.
Have them find out whats wrong (if its free).
Go home and see if fixing that fixes the problem.

Good Luck,
GT6
