91 Town car - Windows Fogging AGAIN :-(

Replaced heater core recently. Put in new brass one.

Not much has changed :Bang .

At cold weather windows are still fogging like crazy, and it happens intermittently, for some reason. For instance, I can drive for an hour with heater on and windows relatively clean. But then suddenly I feel a smell of hot moist, like in a wet bathroom with shower on and windows are getting fogged instantly, in less than a minute, with solid water moisture. Feels as if somebody just drops water on a heater core ). And at the same time, there is no smell or taste of antifreeze in air and moist ! It smells just as a regular hot water moist.

It looks like water drops are condensing somewhere in heater system and mix with incoming air, near the heater core or on the way to deflectors.

Does anyone know, are there any ways to control and prevent this moisture buildup in the heater system?
Also, I heard that there should be some body vent holes in every car's body, somewhere at rear. Are they present in Town Cars?

Did anybody ever face similar issue?

Did you blow out the E-Core?

That is what pulls the moisture out of the air before it his the Heater Core. I bet what happened it's clogged on the other side and holding water. When you turn on the heater - it pulls the water in through the air moving, heats is up via the Heater Core - and bam - Instant steam.

Try to clean the FRONT of the e-core and the drain hole and see if this helps...

Where's the E-core located? How is it called on Ford's system drawing ?

Drain hole on the heater's bottom - I think I've cleaned it, but not sure though.

The Evapator core. It would of been right in that duct behind the Heater Core. I don't know how to get to it w/o taking the heater core out agian...

The drain hole should be on the bottom of the duct that the blower motor blows air into...

Hope this helps!!

It is my understanding that if you set max. heating then blend door opens fully towards heater core section thus isolating E-core and the rest of cooling system path completely from air flow, doesn't it?

Besides, I don't think there's anything wrong with E-core, since A/C works perfectly, there are no any refrigerant leaks and when temp. setting is at coolest A/C mode, there is no moisture produced. Even if there was moisture before, as soon as I turn full A/C on, it disappears right away.

My strong feeling that for somehow there is some water buildup in heater core section somewhere. It looks like there should be some path for it to drain, but that does not happen.

Wrong. ALL the air comming into the vehicle via the vents pass through the E-core. Even when you have the Heat on full blast, and it's on max (For the recirculation) it still passes through the E-Core. That is also what takes out the Humidity out of the air. I know on mine - even on full heat - The A/C compressor still runs to take out the moisture out in the air. There is a door that seperates the Heater core from the rest of the incomming air - but everything passes through the E-Core...

If you lived closer I'd come have a look (Replaced my heater core about a month ago) and blew out the E-Core/cleaned it for the mildew smell/etc...

Becides that drain hole (You're best looking from under the car up) I don't know what else it can be. You said that it doesn't smell like Antifreeze and that you just installed a new heater core also...

I'm really stumped at this man. I really-really wish you lived closer to me so I can rip it apart and see what's going on for my own poops and giggles...

Sorry that I can't seem to be of help - but this problem has me really stumped...:Bang
