Hi everybody,

In my 1992 Town Car's digital cluster fuel level display section sometimes goes from normal display to erratic readings (much higher then real fuel level, going back and forth) and at some point to just 2 stripes at the top and 2 stripes at bottom.

See picture.

Did anybody experience this issue ?

Fuel metering sensor in the fuel tank is fine for sure, I've measured it at LO and HI positions with digital multimeter and it's in perfect condition.

ahhhh what kinda numbers? how high? and does it do the 2 bars thing when your car is running? cause i notice your check engine/air bag light is on in that pictue (i hope your car isnt on) lol... but, is thats 350K miles?

Car is in perfect condition, even though it's 350k Km or ~250k miles.
Car is in St. Petersburg, Russia.

CheckEngine lamp is on because of faulty DPFE sensor, which I actually don't give any damn about - it does not affect any performance. And airbag - I've just removed one of the crash sensors when repainted the car couple years ago.

And I won't say that this fuel meter thing bothers me much, it's just interesting, what could be the cause.
It goes to this 2 by 2 bars picture at any random time, regardless of whether car is moving or not.

My guess it's a digital cluster's microcontroller glitch, since I've replaced it a year ago with a similar cluster from junkyard which had much brighter dislpay than my original one andf that original one never had this issue over several years that I own this car.

The 2 dual bars indicate disconnected unit (no reading) or reading below the expected Ohm range.

Same goes for the Temp guage if that one should ever give 2 dual bars. Single dual bars either on top or bottom (can't remember which) indicates a short.
