I just found out I have been riding on a loose inner Tie rod for 2+ years. I thought was the strut until I switch to coils. Recently it started making the bumping noise when i was on the brakes in rhythm with my warp rotors. I jacked it up and pushed and pulled on the wheel and saw the rod moving an inch or two. How hard is this to fix?

Thanks

its pretty easy to fix, pull the outter tierod out of the spindle. mark where the tierods meet on the outter rod, so that you can put it back together in a close location(for alignment reasons). take the boot off the rack where it covers the tie rod use an adjustable wrench and regular wrench to take it off. sorry the directions are not the best if you need more help just ask. it took me about 30 mins to change my rightside inner tierod. so i could have it aligned. ford quoted me 175 with my employee discount(didnt wanna drive it home with the alignment out of wack like it was) i went home and did it for 25.

Might as well change the outer at the same time. You're doing most of the work already anyway and it's more than likely almost ready to fail too.

And it's not difficult to do. It was the first "repair" I undertook on my Mark VIII years ago. Little did I know how many more I would soon experience.
