My 96 continental won't start after sitting overnight if the temp is around freezing or lower. No problem with cold afternoon starts (even when temps have been low to mid thirties in afternoon) or warm starts anytime.

It turns over and seems to fire or do something that sounds like it's running for a second or two but after that initial "surge" it dies.

Changed pcv valve, discovered cracked rubber in vacuum lines so replaced pcv elbow, T connector and another associated rubber boot but problem persists.

Maybe it's water in the line sicne it seems to happen below freezing, so I ran a tank of Heet. Dont think it's water, tho. I buy gas at same place, same as my wife and others I know. About the same time as the Heet tank, tho, I was off off holidays so no cold early am starts. Plus it warmed a bit after a xmas snow (I'm in central NC). No problems starting, tho.

Back to regular routine this week, temps back to mid20s when I first leave the house around 7am. Monday it barely started (took several tries) but not at all yesterday or today. Even by 9:30 today and over 32degrees still no start.

I'll go home for lunch after while and it will probably purr to life like nothing's wrong. Fuel filter was replaced less than 10k miles ago.

Thoughts anyone?
