I just had a brake line replaced on my 97 SLS at a Meineke dealer - (The left rear suspension had rubbed a hole through the steel brake line going to the front of the car,) Imagine my surprise when Meineke gave me the car back and told me they were not able to bleed the air out of the brake system !! I was told that a diagnostic tool was required - Does anyone know how to bleed the system, or does it really require computer diagnostics ??

Sorry, it does require the computer to bleed all the air out the system! Since their was a hole rubbed in the brake line, air was pump into your system and the standard method would not get all the air out. This is going to cost you a few dollars!

EVERYTHING REQUIRES COMPUTERS NOW....LOL

Resetting your brakes if you want to just drive the air out yourself, accelerate in reverse and brake abruptly... it should adjust your pads, and take/ push some air through your system....

other than that... there is always the fantastic dealer rebate offers, where they only charge you 200% over cost.
