As I understand the air ride system, that up to an hour after you shut the car down, the suspension will level itself. Its not doing that now and the right front strut is leaking down to the wheel well in about an hour. Followed by the left after the right has settled all the way down. The car is not reporting any issues as I have driven it around town to see if any trouble codes pop up.
I had just replaced both inner and outer ties rods on the car and had the front end in the air for several hours. Cleaning and rotating the wheels as well as the tie rod job. I had sensor lowered the car some time ago, last November I think and replaced both front struts in September. When the car is jacked up the sensors are completely compressed, with no play in them.
Part of the daily routine of driving, let the suspension level out before I pull out of the driveway. Before I get around the block, the compressor will kick in again but only briefly as I go over some dips in the road. (Could be just the right front suspension dipped down enough, to call the compressor on) The suspension does level out after I shut the car off, after 8-10 minutes and that would be it.(Before the work)
Now after the suspension settles out the front end has a two/three finger gap between the tires and wheel well. That’s after I get out of the car shutting the door. It was around two fingers after I had adjusted the sensors.
I did just have the front end aligned. Could this be part of my problem? Can an alignment shop adjust the cars front suspension up so high? The sensors are in the same place and the fellas there did not say that they had any weirdness in the work; just the toe was out slightly. That was an issue before I had taken it in. The car drives nice except the front end is way high. I pulled fuses #4 and 13 under the hood and #28 in the car to clear the memory, just in case.
Any thoughts?
Thx
