Yup, finally did it.

New vehicle is a 98 GMC Half ton 4x4. A little more user friendly in Colorado winters. :) Nothing really big in the way of mods now, or ever.

Magnaflow 2.5" bullets, high flow cats, and 4 inch stainless tips. 285-75-16 BFG all terrains, and mickey thompson aluminum wheels. Chrome strips are on thier way off, along with the pin stripe. Nothin big, but should look and sound decent.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
WTF mike, just the other week you were keeping the 98

Booooooooo!

Well, you needed a truck and you still have 2 other Marks. I played a part in helping you get that car and I'm sad to see it go.

Yea, I've been doing the off and on thing for 6 months now. I got a good price for the 98' and and even better price on the truck.

I need the 4X4 out there ALOT more than I will need a rear wheel drive low slung car. I'll have the 95 for that. :)

Mike

congrats on the new truck. I used to have a 95 silverado half ton. It was a good truck.

Congrats on the truck...............

I just picked up a 2004 Ram 1500 4X4 myself. PA winters can be brutal and the Mark VIII is not reakky a good winter car. Now maybe I can start the mods that I want to do. A paint job, wheels, and a little more power is on tap. I have been ignoring the Mark for the past few months, and it is time to start giving it the attention that it deserves.

Shame ..... you should have gotten a F150

It's OK for a brand X. but I wouldn't own no Chevy pick-up. but congrats on your truck.

I would'nt own a ford truck if my life depended on it. Except for a late model 7.3L powerstroke. Diesel not included, the 5700 Vortec will walk all over any V8 ford has put out in the last 10+ years.

I test drove MANY F150/250's and come to the conclusion that they are WAY too under powered. Dodges are just too unreliable, and backwards so that left the old stand by.

I like the styling of these trucks and after 10 years of production, GM had thier :q:q:q:q together, and built them right.

I traded in and F150.....................

Way too many hassels with the Ford trucks that I have owned. I drive a lot of miles each year, and by far I see more broken down Chevy and Ford trucks than I have ever seen Dodge trucks.

I also like the styling of the Chevy trucks.........

but I decided it was more important to actually be able to drive the truck than to look good sitting along the side of the road waiting for a tow truck. There are a lot of trucks in my area and by far the Chevy seems to be at the lowest spot as far as sales and service. Don't get me wrong, I like the Chevy trucks, but there are way more older Ford and Dodge trucks still on the roads in this area that there are Chevy's. The Chavy's just seem to rust right off of the frame. And as for your 5700, my Magnum will out accelerate it, out pull it, and out run it in almost any conditions. It goes faster, and stops quicker. It has better times at the track, and my Ram is leaps ahead in the styling department. I guess that we just have to agree to disagree.

My father moved from GMC trucks after his 95 2500 had an oil line work it's way loose on the highway. That truck was in the garage more than it was on the road, and he bought it new. It was his fourth GM - he had 2 S15's and a then a 1500 before the 2500. Has had Fords since, no issues....Just bought a 2003 F150 Crew Cab last week :)

Personally, I find that Ford and Dodge have left GM behind in the truck department since the mid 90's. Although I do like the styling of your 98 - one of my favourite GMC body styles, and they customize well :)

Is this the 4700 or the Hemi?

I was talking about Fords also, not dodge's. I like the styling of the mopars, but, not only are they more expensive for the newer models (which is the only type I would consider buying), they are also forgein to me as far as working on them.

I do NOT like the mid 90's stying, and REALLY don't like the old pushrod 5.2/5.9 they had availible then. I'm not concerned with 1/4 mile times, superior braking, or pulling power. I bought this piticular truck to have for snow, and being up in the mountians to haul my ATV, and pull the occaisional car trailer for the 95'.

90% of my buddies who own trucks have full size GM's, which prolly explains my bias. I also got it cheap, there is NO rust on it other than light surface rust on the frame which is normal around here. No filler, no dents, and no mudding as far as I can tell on it. It'll do for what I need. :)

Chevy trucks > than ford trucks on any day...

I have owned both, alot more chevy's than fords. My first chevy was a 72 Suburban, then I had a 95 C1500 Silverado, a 98 S-10, and last a 2004 Silverado 2500HD crew cab.

I have also had a few fords, 95 Bronco 4x4, and a 96 F-150 4x4. Both of my ford truck were big headaches. Tranny leak on the F-150, slipping trans, A/C issues, barley any power left in the motor at 100K miles.

For the chevy trucks...I never had any major issues. I retired the 95 at 150K on original driveterrain, and it was still running strong when I sold it. The S-10 was traded in on the 04 at 65K miles and I drove the HD for 40K problem free miles before I sold that. I think the only ford truck I would buy now would be a F-250/350 power stroke crew cab 4x4.

Well, I hope the 98 doesn't give the new owner the problems it gave you...

I do agree the Truck will server you well in CO...
And you still have that hot 95... Gen I Mark VIII Who need a Gen II...

Hey we should have a send off Party for you..

It should'nt, EVERYTHING was fixed that I could think of before it went down the road.

8 new coils, thread serted all 8 plugs, new lighting control module, rear end, driveshaft, EVERYTHING.

well, a week and a half in to it, and goin pretty good.

New rims, tool box, and the pinstripe is deleted. Tailgate is comming off friday to be repainted because of stretched cables. New panasonic cd player with the cable to control my ipod, and a set of digital design 12" subs going in next monday.

Tuesday morning I'm on the road for Colorado.

These are some pictures from the 1st roadin trip. Not much mud that time, but tomorrow is gonna be ALOT worse. :D
