I was wondering what is the proper way to completely drain the engine of coolant? I got about a gallon out of the radiator with the stopper on the right hand of the car, but I know there has to be more in the engine block. Also, does anyone know how many gallons of coolant the engine holds?

I just looked in a 96 owner's manual I have sitting here, and it says 16 quarts for cooling system capacity. 98 should be the same. I think there are drain plugs on each side of the block to drain coolant, although I've never used them. I'll look at work today as I have a 98 engine sitting on the floor at work.

The block drains are by the motor mounts and a pain to do (From what I've heard). Imho don't bother, not worth the trouble.

Drain the radiator, fill it and burp it. If you want it cleaner do it again.

Pop the water pump off if you want everything out of the block.. Freeze plugs are a PITA
