98 Lsc Torqu Conveter Issue Sos!!!!

OK GUYZ NEED AN OPTION ABOUT SOMETHING MAYBE SOMEONE HERE CAN CALL THESE PEOPLE ABOUT A TORQUE CONVERTR

OK IM GETTING MY OIL LEAK TAKEN CARE OF FINALLY,AFTER MY BODY HAS BEEN FINSHED(TRYING TO DO EVERYTHING ONE AT A TIME HERE)
..NOW QUESTION FOR ANY OF YOU HERE KNOW ABOUT TRANNY'S...IS IT TRUE IF YOU GET SPLATTER MARKS OF OIL ON THE TORQUE CONVERTER..YOU HAVE A LEAK COMIN FROM THE WELD.ALSO THEY SAID MY O RING IS BEING REPLACED ,HUB..AND ANOTHER THING I FORGOT WHAT IT WAS...BUSHING TO HUB...?
FROM WHAT IM BEING TOLD IS THAT MY TORQUCONVERTER IS LEAKING AND WHICH IS CAUSEING A LEAK FROM THE FRONT GASKET.(I DID SEE THE LEAK WHEN I WAS UNDER THE CAR WHEN IT WAS ON THE LIFT..)

PLUS FOR A TORQUE CONVERTER HOW MUCH AM I LOOKING AT REBUILT.. THE T/C # IS F8LPAA 4R70-AODEW

IM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT MY GUY IS GETTING FOR THAT CONVERTER FROM WHO HE IS GETTING IT FROM..LOL I CALLED THE CO CALLED PROTORQUE Phone: 631-218-8700-PROTORQUE.COM (DO NOT MENTION THAT A GIRL CALLED ASKING,PRETEND OR USE THE EXCUSE U DID A WEBSEARCH AND WANT TO KNOW THE DIFF ON BOTH PRICES WHOLE SALE OR IF BUYING ON UR OWN,OR USE A FRIEND TRANNY SHOP TO GET THEM TO TELL U WHAT THE PRICES IS)
AND THEY REFUSE TO GIVE ME THE WHOLESALE PRICE FOR THAT TC SINCE IM NOT A SHOP...SO THEY KNOW ME ALREADY FOR POKIN INTO CONFEDENTIALITY BETWEEN THE SHOP AND THEM FOR HOW MUCH THE TC ARE GOIN FOR...SO CAN 1 PERSON HERE FIND OUT FOR ME??. THE SHOP WHO'S DOING THE WORK IS CHARGING ME APPX 350+ JUST FOR A REBUILT CONVERTER,AND THE REST LIKE QRTS OF OIL,LABOR AND THE OTHER THINGS HE REPLACING..SO ALL TOGETHER FROM 500 WHICH I WAS EXPECTING TO NOW A WHOPPING $800 ALL BECAUSE OF A LEAK....HMM U THINK IM BEING RIPPED OFF?

I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF IM GETTING RIPPED OFF BY EAITHER SIDE HERE AND GETTING SOMETHING THAT I DONT NEED...OR HOW MUCH MONEY THIS SHOP IS GETTING ME FOR IF IT'S REBUILT BY THIS PLACE I MENTIONED ABOVE.
I FEEL EVERYONE HAS TO BE CAREFUL ON SHOPS WHO TRY TO SELL YOU SOMETHING U DONT NEED YA KNOW...WE LINCOLN OWNER HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR EACHOTHER..

TC cost from $150 from autozone to a few hundred if you want to go with more performance.

I'm replacing mine next tuesday.

Done at a shop will cost a bunch!

So you are a little high strung LOL....


Are you getting any shutter or vibration when your car shifts?

At about 2K I get a shutter, you can feel the shift then the vibration.

I also have a leak in my front seal. It does cost a lot to replace the front seal as you have to pull the tranny out. That means you have to remover the exhaust system, the gas tank and the tranny. This is considered about a 5 hour job at a shop.

$800 for the seal to be replace is resonable.

$350 for the TC unless it is a preformance TC is high. OME should be around $150.

umm no, no vibrations really, a shutter...ehh when im at a light or if i slow down and pick back up...ehh a feel that im not getting enough power/force...dont know really if that's the tranny doing or...something else...
well i can say i got my car back from the tranny shop...

ok i got my car back from the tranny shop...when i drove it home, it was a matter of minutes when i was hearing a whiny noise at 40 mph as it slows down from 50..i was like WTF????..rrrrr :soapbox: so, i called the tranny guy as he was about to close up after i left..and u know what the mother f'r said..oh that figured you were gonna call back and pick n whine about something...(again WTF did i just hear???)
i was like excuse me ..i just popped out over $900.00 and u talk to me like that?...you f'n a-hole!!!!.....do u talk to ur customers like that after they pay u and then they leave????..let me tell U something... you are not the only mechanic i had to call back about a consern...and again you are not the only mechanic i had/have to strighten out....so....after a few min of yappin to him about his attitude...he was kissin my ear on the phone pracitlly...saying im soorrry...people are never satified...sorry soorry sssorry.and then said
everyone has to complain about something...and then after that says..in other words...(meaning me) oh when people get their cars fixed and drive it back home..people tend to listen as hard as they can to pick up things they never heard b4...or they imagine that they never hear it b4...i was like WTF???
i said look buddy..i know my car's sounds, noises, smells...and such..and im car savy, not some first timer fresh outta mommies whomb...i had this car for over 3 yrs and ur telling me that im nit pickin over things i never heard b4...u ahole!!!!...lol..i asked him now since u dropped my tranny did the nessasary fixing and replacings...is it normal for a noise to apprear...or did something touch or go bad while it was out he said.. oh maybe your the"platoes" or what ever word he said could be bad.....lol ......does that make sence to any of ya's?

well after,all this we decided to take a drive last night to go out to din din...boy was hubby mad ...he hears the whiny noise too,we hear it more than the exaust it self :Bang ...i'm thinkin something is wrong here..he too is like wtf i never heard this b4...you see im not the only one saying imagining this...lol,also i notice that the shifter on the floor vibrates a bit..again wtf? aaaaah,and my rpm..when im going say 55- 65 or so it doesnt go over the number1.5 to # 2..it did b4...rrrrrrrrr,boy monday me n the tranny guy is gonna have a long talk :F :bash: . shall i drink a nice chivas on the rocks b4 going to calm down my high strung demeenor? :N
we both said it sounds like it stressing the whole time while driving...and it feels like im dragging 40lbs sandbags, or cinder blocks under me ..the car feels so damn heavy.
i know from not driving it a while does make it feel different(1 mnth outta comission, and add 24 hrs for tranny) but not that much of a diff within 24hrs of driving it after getting it fromthe body shop,the good feeling was there when i got in the seat. it was like ahh,i miss u
you know something guys if u dont know this...they say out of all mechaincs in the industry...tranny guys are the ones who ripp you off the most...just figured to throw that in there for the new commers on the road!

Always pay by check... then if they screw you run and stop payment. Then, let them take you to small claims court. You can make your case to the judge and may end up winning. If not, then you pay him, plus a few bucks for court admin. At least you have a chance...

well thats great....but problem is... anyone hear of wells fargo credit charge card,some companies have this program that if you apply u can use it at that participating place where u are getting the work done...i may have a chance that way by dispuuting the charge if my tranny dies..well they had that plan...so i didnt pay anythng outta pocket yet, but the charge is on the acct...wells gives u 90 days interest free, after that then they tack on the interest...plus shop as well gave me 90.

L.G. I wouldn't drive it , but back to the shop .
I learned with trany shops (as with most shops) Look for a shop that is with the BBB Better Business Bureaus sign.

Ray - 1wykdmk8 has changed a few trannys on VIIIs and he told me I would need to remove the tank to make it easiers. Bryan - MonsterMark said he sees where dropping the tank would help but feels it is not necessary. Talked to him yesterday. Both of these members I trust and know their skills.

Both have taken out trannies on VIIIs before.

That's why!

My TC change starts Monday as I drench the bolts and get them all ready to go.

hmm gas tank?..i beleive that the guys who did mine...didnt remove the gas tank (lol mine was full to top friggin $35 worth,lol i dont think he wasnt to drop it with that amount in there ..right... ...question y whould he go there,meaning takin oiut the tank?...i understand the exaust cause it's right there close to the ttranny..but gas tank?...does that go for all marks no matter the yr?

took mine to f&j transmissions...rrrrrrrrr!
