I'm new to the forum and town cars. I met an older lady today that had a tc sitting in her back yard. I told her I was interested in it and she said she would sell it to me. Here's my question....Should I buy it?

She said she was only owner. Said someone told her it needs new battery and alternator. Rear end was sitting on ground. Interior and exterior are in excellent condition. She said she hasn't driven it in years. Has 100,000 miles. Told me she would sell it for $1,500. Is it worth it? I know the rear suspension issue could be very expensive. What should I do? I'm scared if I get it that it might need more than just an alternator and battery. Help.

I would say its worth it.

If the suspension is completely shot, which I doubt it is, you can buy new bags or a conversion kit for $200 (https://www.arnottindustries.com/part_LINCOLN_yid2_pid14.html) That's not terribly expensive. My guess is the bags might have minor leaks and once the new battery is hooked up the car will probably be fine or just need a new strut or two. Even worst case is you install the conversion kit for $200 + labor and your done with it. That $1500 might become $2300 all in. IMO worth it if the car is otherwise in great shape.

100,000 miles is nothing on a TC. Limos / cabs routinely go 300,000 on this car.
