Hey guys, I'm supposed to be picking up a 99 Seville STS tomorrow. It has 117K on it and I'm getting it for $6900. Is that a good deal? It's in mint condition except for the power steering sticking a little when it's not moving? Power steering pump or fluid maybe?? Other than that what should I watch out for? Over all, is it a good car? Performance- can it take a beating? or will it blow up on me? You guys know a lot so thanks in advance.

Welcome Konrad,

From what I've read the engine can take a pretty good beating. If I'm not mistaken the 1999 is the second generation of the NorthStar. I think your on track with the Power Steering issue... Could be a cooked line is leaking.

One thing to do for sure... Flush the Coolent System and put Fresh Coolent/Antifreeze.
Make sure your Overflow has the proper amount. Put a good oil in... 5W30 and get a Purolator Pure-1. I think the engine calls for 7 quarts of oil. I'd do 6, with a quart of Lucas treatment. Drop in the gas a Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner bottle. Best if done with half a tank... Run it till its almost empty. Once all is done, take it out for some WOT freeway work to blow things out properly.... Ougta last ya a while!!!!!!

Good Luck Man,

JC

I found about 2 gallons the first time it rained after I bought my black beauty '99 STS. We have a lengthy thread on water in the trunk...

:steering :C

Re the oil stuff, I haven't tried the adatives yet, but I use 10W30 Mobil 1.

Thanks fellas, definitely appreciate the suggestions, let me know if anyone has anything else to add.
