I started a new thread because I have a question and I wanted to make sure as many people would have a chance to read it. So far the trans is working well. On the highway it runs out like a champ. Everything feels great. One thing though is at 40 mph and 2100 rpm it feels like it might be having a problem trying to figure out which gear it wants to stay in. If I speed up just a bit its fine or I slow down its fine. So, I don't now if I have a problem or not? Also, I had someone here say that punching out the 2 front cats would decrease my HP. Not enough back pressure. The way the car is running, I can't imagine that I've lost any power. But the car runs like a bat out of hell. If you are needing a new trans, a stall TC is a must have. Its a hole new car. I highly recommend this upgrade.

It is either the TCC solenoid acting up, or some tuning issues that could be sorted out by having a dynotune done.

If you have a chip you can get it reburned with a different torque converter lockup schedule which might help your problem... you might get away with having no dynotune. But look into the TCC solenoid issue, it's easy to replace if it is acting up...

Sounds like solid advice. I don't have a chip, who should I buy one from?

Thanks,

Greg

I like Torrie's SCT chips from fastpartsnetwork.com. He really has the tune down for the Mark VIII's. Since you have a 96 you might want to consider getting the Xcal 2 programmer which gives you the option of checking/deleting codes and getting new tunes downloaded from your PC but it cost about $100 more than a chip.

How much is the chip?

My money is on the tune.

What exactly do they do when they do a tune and what all can I do on my own. I know plugs and regular maintenance. But, what else? Is it just we are so computerized that you really can't do much without hooking it up to a machine and what all do they check when its hooked up? Thanks m_maker & 95LSC32V I do appreciate your time.
