My 2004 LS started to cycle on the way home from a long trip. Got home and checked it with my manifold gauge set. When running at normal temp the low side is 22 psi and the high side was 160 psi or so, don't really remember the high side exactly. 22 psi is to low which is causing it to cycle off and then when it recovers back to about 30 psi it turns back on so the low pressure switch is working. When it runs the air is ice cold. When turned off the static pressure on the low side was between 65 and 110 psi, seems to sit closer to 65 psi now that I messed with it. I decided to add some r134 to it and see if it would stop cycling. I added about a can and a half with no change to the pressure or improvement to the rate of it cycling. If nothing else it cycles more like it has to much freon in it. It let some back out of the system and it did not change the frequency. I used a UV light and there is some leaking at the back of the compressor, but not much. Any ideas on why it won't come up on the low side when i add freon to it or why it would cycle more with a small amount of freon being added?? At this point it acts like it wont injest any more freon. I don't really want to have it vacuumed down and replaced, but that is where I am headed if I can't figure anything else out. Thanks for any help.
