I have a 2002 V6 lux. lincoln ls. My problem is that my air works fine for awhile but it will suddenly start to heat up and blow hot air (it blows hotter on the pass. side). No matter what the temp control is set on 65+ it blows hot A/C button is on. If I turn the car off and restart it it works fine! :Bang Please send me any info you can regarding this concern or ask me about more details on it. Thanks Danny :L

Ahhh, this happened to me. There is a TSB(technical service bulletin) out for this problem. Also, I would caution taking this TSB to your dealer and telling them to fix it. Approach the subject stating you think your car is experiencing a problem that sounds like a recent TSB. They are much more receptive to this approach than cramming a copy of the TSB in their face. However, here's the TSB:

A/C - Lack of Cooling From Driver/Passenger Vents
Article No.
03-3-4

02/17/03

CLIMATE CONTROL - LACK OF COOLING FROM
DRIVER AND/OR PASSENGER SIDE VENT -
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH DUAL AUTOMATIC
TEMPERATURE CONTROL (DATC) ONLY

FORD:
2002 THUNDERBIRD

LINCOLN:
2000-2002 LS

Article 00-15-3 is being republished in its entirety to update the models covered and to update the Basic Causal Part number.

ISSUE

Some vehicles may exhibit a lack of A/C cooling from either the driver or passenger side vents or an extreme temperature difference between the driver and passenger side on vehicles with DATC (Dual Automatic Temperature Control): This may be caused by a faulty DCCV (Dual Coolant Control Valve), a faulty DATC control assembly, or faulty electrical circuits.

ACTION

Inspect and service as necessary, electrical circuits, DCCV and DATC control assembly. Refer to the following Service Procedure to aid in diagnosis and repair.

re: A/C

my car is out of warranty is this covered from lincoln ?? If not do you know how much it cost. :yourock: Thank you Danny

Same car, same problem. My car also out of warranty. Anyone know if we have to pay for this? Or does Lincoln repair this at their expense?

a/c

I called my dealer ship & they said it was most likely the coolant valve. They also said that a TSB is for info only & if your out of warranty it comes out of your pocket :Bang Im going on fri. and will get the price from my dealership so i can post it :L

A TSB is for information only. If your car is under warranty the repairs are covered unless you have a deductible. If your car is out of warranty you'll have to pay for it. I don't have costs on my repair so I can't help you there. My car was under warranty when they fixed mine.

What part of Tennessee are you in? I can recommend a great dealer in the Knoxville area.

Thanks! Whenever your in Knoxville give me a shout. I've been thinking of having a day where everyone in the area could get together and have a Garage Day.

Same problem here. It has happened 3 times since I got my car back in early April. When it happens, I just switch the car off for a few minutes and it works fine again.

I recently looked up pricing on the DATC module and found it for 375. Could not find anything on the DCCV. Also, does anyone have any idea how to replace DATC/DCCV?

The DATC is pretty easy. Just take out the radio and it's attached to the bottom of it. If I remember correctly there are two bolts holding it to the radio. Just remove those and replace it with the new one. If you have a wood grain piece on your old DATC the front cover will come off to allow you to put it on the new DATC. I'm not certain where the DCCV is.

A/C problem

Sorry about the dely in my answer. I finally when to the dealership and the coolant control valve they said most likely the prob. They did one on 5/31. Anyway the part is about $255 and the labor @ my dealership here in chatt. is about 288, but the dealer cost for the part is $140. So if you have the hook up @ your dealership you can save money on the part @ least. Please let me know anymore info you guys get! :L

If you have the part number contact Torrie with Ford Parts Network at torrie@fordpartsnetwork.com. He is always cheaper than the dealer. Tell him Ken sent ya! :Beer

contact the five star folks as well they are an LvC prefered vendor which helps the LvC community plus they have kick ass customer service and great prices. their contact info is in my signature. Also, ask the dealer if they can cover it as an after warranty adjustment if your car has less than 75K miles on it.

Mine just started acting up last night. Can this be a DIY job, or should I leave this one to the stealership?

I have the part but do not have it put on b/c It looks very involved to me. the Stealership said it was bout 300 to put it on :L

After the dealership had my car for 4 days they said they were "unable" to fix the problem. The air is hot on the drivers side only once in a great while. Since they couldn't get it to not work for them they didn't do anything about the problem.?? Needless to say I was pretty pissed off b/c it took them 4 day to do an oil change, fix the popping sound in the front end(swaybar endlink), and look at the A/C problem. I'll never go back to Norristown Ford. They didn't even return my call until yesterday. They had the car since last Thursday night.

Does anyone know of a good dealer in the S.E part of PA?

I have tried like crazy to find the DCCV in my service manual and can't find it. I can't even find it listed under components! Anyone have any idea where this little jewel is located?

Does the 1992 Lincoln Continental have the same problem? My AC level is fine but I have no AC at all. My mechanic says I am not getting power to the compressor.

not likely to be related. I had a power problem to my compressor and it turned out to be the AC clutch coil. It is an electrical clucth that enegaes the compressor.

did you check the fuses?
