i need some help.i have a 2001 lincoln ls v8. i was just sitting in the arbys drive thru and noticed the compass on my mirror flickering on and off. after a minute it completly shut off. now on my way home i turned up my stereo a little bit, and my compass turned back on. although it appears to be dimmer than usual, maybe its just me.. now b4 you ask yes i do have 2 subwoofers in my trunk, although they were not on at the time this occured. how can i fix this? loose connection maybe?

yes i did it is fine anything else i could check?

I think the connection behind the mirror is all there is. you can check voltage there while the compass isn't working. if voltage (pos and ground) is good then sounds like you need a new mirror

i heard the computer for it is in the trunk somewhere. does anyone know wat it looks like so i can check the connections on it?

computer for the mirror? don't think such a beast exists. I could be wrong. computer for the nav system is in the trunk but I don't think there is a mirror computer but there are so many computers in this car I can't say it wouldn't shock me lol

There should be a "module" or box that's part of the mirror assy where it mounts to the windshield. If you have rain sensitive wipers, it should either be in the same area or part of that sensor. I don't have the car here to look and see just exactly how they have it, so I'm shooting from memory here. But every compass mirror I've seen is done that way.

By the way gixxerboi...my son has an 01 LS8 Sport and a 1000 Gixxer too. He scares the hell out of me with that thing. Everytime I get a little cocky about my Cobra, he puts me in my place. Scary scooters....

My 02 V8 has a computer on the passanger side of the trunk behind the tail light. Look behind the trunk mat thing where the trunk light is.

thanx for the help guys. problem has not reoccered so maybe i touched somthin the rite way
