Today starts a new page in the history of this country, and though it may be a sad day for some, it is a day to come together in the hope we can put this country on the right track.
MonsterMark has used this forum to promote his disagreement with the President al through his campaign.
He certainly has a right to his opinions, as do all of us who use this forum.
Many of the arguements he put forth seemed to have turned into a personal vandetta against this new President.
I would only ask at this time, that he not tell us Mr. Obama is NOT the President because he and justice Roberts did not recite the oath of office as it is written in the constitution.
Please spare us that one.
Bob.

They really didn't stray from the Constitutional oath, although they had some trouble with the timing (you'd think they'd have practiced this beforehand), which kind of threw off everything. And yes, he said "So help me God."

My favorite part about today: there are no more excuses for anyone.

I watched it.... The poor timing was funny

Oh, on the oath? Aside from Obama really wanting to get started at the beginning, I think Roberts actually got it wrong the first time. He corrected himself, but then Obama said it the first way anyway. I could be wrong, but that's my interpretation anyway...

And will continue to do so all throughout his Presidency. His speech today could have been given by Stalin himself.

It's not personal. He is a socialist muslim sympathizer who wants to turn this country into a commune.

Some choice excerpts from his speech today:

"Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age." Analysis: We must punish the rich and use the power "collective" of the ballot box to vote ourselves the rich's money.

"Our journey has never been one of short-cuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted - for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things - some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom." Analysis: it is the common man, the blue collar worker, who will get the spoils of this administration. Class warfare at its finest.

"They saw America as bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions; greater than all the differences of birth or wealth or faction." Analysis: Again, the "collective" will be the driving force.

"Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America." Into what??? The new Russia?

"And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age." Ah yes, we will continue to brainwash our young so that all may be Obamobots.

"Guided by these principles once more, we can meet those new threats that demand even greater effort - even greater cooperation and understanding between nations. We will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people, and forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan." Analysis: We can meet with and appease our enemies even though history has shown that to be a failed strategy. Looks like he lied about Iraq and notice he doesn't say "victory" in Afganistan, rather he uses the word 'peace' which is code word for surrender.

And last..." For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sahn." ......he mentions the Revolutionary and Civil wars, along with WWII and Vietnam. What is noticeably lacking is ANY REFERENCE in ANY PART of his speech to the sacifices our soldiers are making in Iraq and Afganistan. A simple omission?

As far as I am concerned, The Usurper can play President until he is removed from office kicking and screaming when the truth comes.

Please spare us that one.

U.S. Stocks Slide in Dow Average’s Worst Inauguration Day Drop

Ya, I'd say he is off to a great start.

Um... He doesn't need to play president. Like him or not, he is the president. And if he's removed from office kicking and screaming, then he won't be the president anymore. But right now he is.

I'm pretty bummed that the market is down, too, but don't you think the inauguration of Obama would have been built into the market by now? Certainly people knew it was coming -- and if people were selling at a loss just to make a political statement, then... well... then that's just dumb.

In any case, I think it's cool that you had a chance to listen to his speech so intently. Your perspective is intriguing.

Looks like the re-did the oath today -- just in case. :) Obama must be a member of this forum :D

Ya, the Usurper managed to re-up without the Bible making him the 1st secular President. Wheee. And I'm willing to bet Roberts and Obama left out that nasty 'ol "so help me God" part too.

Hm... I wonder... I'll have to see if I can find the re-do online somewhere...
