so the other day we finally got in our Shelby gt, that we ordered in Feb. its between a mustang gt and a Shelby gt500, and being how Ive now driven all 3 i agree. its a gt that ford sends to Shelby, and they put a ford racing cold air intake, cat back exhaust, chip, ft strut tower bar, bigger sway bars, and some other susp stuff. they also put in a Hurst short throw shifter set up, that is the best shifter feel Ive ever seen (better than the stock mustang gt,the gt500 even the ford GT) VERY short crisp and precise throws, i think they should use this setup on the gt500. they also tinker with the body a little, stripe package, black rims, spoiler delete, and this god awful hood scoop, they tried to make it look like a race car, with a racing style scoop (non functional) with fake rivets around the edge :yuck: then they put on some ugly hood pins, in a stock hood with the stock latch etc, besides that it doesn't look too bad.i took her out and ran it hard up too 110-115mph a few times,even got to scare one of the hourly kids, and i agree its better than a stock gt but nowhere near impressive as the gt500 S/C.

hell i would get the stock v6 hood (no scoop) and throw them stupid pins in the trash, it would look clean but evil. ill get better pics of the hood monstrosity later

nah, she sees me driving everything, she gets parked outback, but out of the 50 cars i drive a day, she wont know the difference. not to mention i WONT own a mustang, in-case you cant tell i like "oddball" cars markviii, mr2, etc its just too boring having 500 aftermarket companies jumping for your attention, id rather have it be a challenge to make it fast.

All that effort for a "boy racer" look and they left out the "fast fuel" gas cap/cover.

All in all its still a Shelby and a good looking car. Probably $20 dollars a month difference in insurance from the S/C model.

Man thats alot of money for a mustang.
If I wanted a stang a gt would do just fine.
But I agree with you chicken too much and too many I will keep the Gen one or find a Gen 2 before I would pop for a stang.

yeah the sticker shows near the same amount for the gt and the gt500 :shifty: although we sold both gt500's for a good amount over sticker, too bad i dont remember how much over prob went around 70-80k, hell the GT (gt40 NOT mustang) went for 100k OVER the sticker price

if i was gonna drop that kind of $$$$ it wouldn't be on some mustang, and have a hundred v-6 with a body kit that look the same following me around
