SMOOTH RIDE: AMERICAN AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION – When an American Automobile Association (AAA) member is in need, a lot is riding on that call. To respond reliably, AAA extended an agreement with AT&T for three years with a $21 million networking contract to support roadside assistance and travel services for more than 47 million members. Under the hood, AT&T provides a lot of network power -- local and long-distance voice, data, hosting and remote-access Internet services. AAA typically handles more than 2 million toll-free emergency roadside service calls a month, so it really relies on AT&T's Toll-Free Service. AT&T also continues to host AAA's consumer Web site from our Internet Data Centers in Florida and Illinois. The Web site, which links members to their local AAA club site, is visited an average of 120,000 times a day. With AT&T's reach, service and reliability at the ready, AAA knows its members won't be left flat no matter where the road takes them.
