I had just left home and was at about 30mph when I notice a faint grinding noise from the right front and the car felt sluggish. Thinking maybe a flat I slowed down. When I hit the brakes, the ABS engages at only that wheel and the ABS light lite up. Prior to this and when not braking no light.

Checked and not flat. Just a half mile from home, I went back and each time when I hit 20mph the grind came back and the ABS would engage on braking.

Shut the car off, and it now hasn't had any of these symptoms in a few days since.

Wheel speed sensor? Or did it get a weird signal on that start up? No problems on any other startup. All lights check OK on startup no Advancetrac warnings either. No wheel or tire mods.

Thanks.

Could be a wheel speed sensor on its way out. You might be able to scan the ABS and see if there is any stored codes..

Or it could be just one of those weird LS things.. :)

I had the exact same problem twice now (slow speed, front right ABS going bonkers, turn car off and restart and everything is fine). It happened to me once about a month ago and once last fall. I have a 2006 with 35k.

I assumed it's just a "weird LS thing" as FASTLLS said ;) but a dying/loose wheel sensor sounds possible.
