hi,
the ABS problem on my 89 Lincoln Mark 7 LSC is back,no sure if it was ever really gone.the pump/accumlator keeps running with the car off and would drain my battery if i dident disconnect the neg cable.a new accumlator was put on a few weeks ago and a new relay was put on today and has not fixed the problem..Does any one have any idea what the problem is? My best gess is the pressure switch-also would cleaning the ABS sensors help?

Have you flushed your brake fluid? This should be done every two years, and when neglected can allow moisture into the system which reaks havoc. Then pull ABS codes and let us know what you get.

ok,will have the brakes flushed at the goodyear dealer next week,do you think they will do a decent job?

Probably not. I have heard little positives about most chain auto repair shops. Find an independent mechanic that is recommended by many and who takes the time to explain what is wrong with the car. It's also not too hard to do on your own. Check the Tech Section of LincolnsOnline.com.

You are sure the accum is running after you turn the key off?

Sounds strange, doesn't it? I thought so too, but mine did it a few years ago when I was up at school. It would get cold and the pump would keep running after I shut off the car, quickly killing the battery. I cannot say precisely what it was, but I can tell you that flushing the system resolved the issue. As such, it is my belief that years of moisture building in the system got to the point where it would freeze up to some degree in the system and cause issues with the pump running, most likely because the accumulator was no longer able to reach the proper pressure.

YES,i am dam sure the accumlator is running, its a buzzing sound coming from the master clinder area.when i pulled the relay on the fire wall behind the master clinder, and yes it was the right relay-the amber abs light came on,the accumlator was still running.does that make any sense??? if the relay was pulled i think the accumlator should have stoped-i replaced the relay anyway with no results.will have it flushed soon and keep you guys posted.

also sorry for the not so great spelling.
