Ok, so I found a real axle assembly for my 1998 TC Cartier (my car has 211k) to replace mine because its starting to howl a bit (sounds like a bad pinion bearing). It's out of a 2001 Town Car with 71k miles and the same 3.08 gear ratio. The only discrepancy is that 98-00 fit no problem, but 01 and 02 will fit only if with "stamped steel ABS tone ring", NOT with "pot metal ABS tone ring". I understand if this is an issue whan swapping axles... but if I'm swapping the entire rear assembly disc to disc, then the ABS ring shouldn't matter, right? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.
