i have a 2000 lincoln ls. the air was cool when the car was in park but not driving down the road. we put 1 can of freon in and it stayed at 35 psi the whole time but the air got colder. we put another can in and it still stayed at 35 but now the air is hot. can anyone tell me what happened?

wow, that's pretty cool! you must know a guy that knows a guy to be able to get some of the good stuff these days!

as far as the real issue... long story short, you need to know more than just the low side pressure.

well that and any searching at all would have yielded that by far the most common reason for not getting cold air, has little to do with level of refrigerant in the system.

but not driving down the road.

would you say that the air is cold as long as the motor is also cold and after driving it and the motor warms up the air is now warm?

also usually helps to give all the info (like which motor you have)...

are both sides of the car equally not as cold?

This can not be overstated!
BTW, that system only holds a total of 2 and 1/3 cans (12 oz size). It is probably way overcharged now.

What MAY have happened is the temp. control that keeps hot air from mixing with cool,or completely shuttting out the cold,is stuck or bad.On Tauruses it's called the blend door motor. Not sure about the 2000 LS.
But that would explain why it starts out cold when the antifreeze is cold, and then heats up.
BUT LIKE JOE SAID............you are probably WAY overcharged now on Freon. don-ohio :)^)

the LS is different, there is a heat exchanger that the refrigerant flows through that cools the air, then there is another heat exchanger that the coolant flows through to heat the air...

the part that controls the amount of coolant that passes through is pretty well known for going bad and letting hot coolant in when you dont want it, this then heats the air even after the air condition cools the air, this part is called the

and is exactly what I was hinting at, however he probably has bigger problems now from trying to service a system without the tool to be able to do it right...

The LS does not have a temperature air blend door! It uses the DCCV to control temperature instead. (Dual Coolant Control Valve)

Can you damage the vehicle by driving it when needing to replace the Dccv? I think mine just went on me too and its +30c out!

I noticed yesterday i went to turn the a/c on and it was hot. I checked for codes and got none (the engine light is not on..but i have a new code reader so why not use it ).

Anyway, the drivers side is hot on all climate settings, the passenger side seems cooler on coolest setting but is still kinda warm. Both get worse as the car warms up.

All fluids are good to go and at proper levels, the car seems to be running great otherwise.

I own a 2006 LS V8. Thanks.

No, can be driven, just you'd have interior cabin climate control issues, does not affect how or when it can run. It'll run just fine as long as you don't attempt to drive it with the DCCV removed and no coolant in the system. Failing or faulty DCCV does not hinder the drive train portion.

I drove mine for a few weeks with a defective DCCV, no worries.

LOL i guess you never know. I needed the laugh thanks :) starting to be one thing after another with this car..good thing she's pretty to look at!
