Know its not the right time of year for this, but I have been off the board for a few months and diagnosed some issues since last on.

Most concerning (expensive) is the fact my ac doesn't work.

Dealer says the line that goes from inside the car back to the compressor is leaking. Total cost: $2,400.00!!!!!!

Claim the motor has to come off of the motor mounts and moved forward a bit to change the line. Like 16 hours of labour.

Please tell me this is hog wash.

seems strange (but not impossible) that the LINE is leaking and not just one of the fittings. IIRC the lines are either stainless or aluminum so I'd be surprised to see them rust. sounds like time for a 2nd opinion. another dealer in your area?

and for an 03 v8, alldata quotes 0.6 hours for suction line, 0.6 hours for front liquid line, and 2.1 hours for rear liquid line. just FYI yours might be different of course.

Sounds about right.....if he's charging $1000 an hour......

That sounds ludicrous to me. The line from the evaporator (inside the car) to the compressor is the suction (low side) line. The front liquid (high side) line should go from the compressor to the condensor, and the rear liquid (high side) is what I'm assuming goes from the condensor towards the evaporator. That line would also contain the orifice that flips it to low side pressure. Of course, there are other components in the system, but that should be the general routing.

Sorry, should have clarified.

It's a V6 sport with a manual gear box.
