I have a 1993 Lincoln continental 6 cyl 3.8 litre. My air conditioning will work fine when I first turn the car on, after driving for 5 to 10 minutes the air will turn warm. If I turn the unit off for a couple of minute and then back on the unit will sometimes turn cold again. Any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks

sounds like you may be a little low on refridgerant. should get it checked out and if you have any leaks, get them fixed. Leaks mean you will most likely have air in the system too, which is no good for the performance/longevity of it.

these systems are 100% closed, they dont gain or loose refridgerant when they are working properly

My 1997 Continental was doing the same thing. I was not low, but the pressure cycle switch needed replacement.
Regards,
Brad.

yup, a bad pressure switch can cause similar problems.

another thought, and one thats easy to check and correct.. is the condenser plugged up with bugs??? that will greatly reduce its ability to move heat from the refridgerant to the air passing thru it.
