Adios: LS is GONE

Just traded my LS for a new '07 300C (Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl). Got a deal that was too good to pass up. The LS has been a great car to drive, but not so great to own as the constant repairs of little crap got old (COPs, window regulators, door handles, VC gaskets, heated seat failure, auto-dim mirror failure..........). And after selling the CAI, performance dropped back a notch and I missed the little extra punch. The HEMI cures that w/ an overdose of torque. But I don't regret owning what I'd consider Lincoln's only glitter of hope of a real driver's car. The LS is IMO the best looking Lincoln made and had real potential to compete w/ the best of the Germans. Too bad Lincoln didn't stay comitted to this market and retreated back to generic FWD cars that are more flash than meat.

Anyway, LvC has been a great resource of info on the LS and I've enjoyed my experience here. I hope I've been able to help a few others along the way too.

I agree whole heartedly that the LS was the most appealing car that Lincoln had in it's stable. However, we may need a forum of "former Lincoln LS owners that have now moved on"

I haven't had a chance to get some good photos, let alone get her detailed and presentable to the camera. But here's a couple off pics that look just like ours (except for the little spoiler on the rear 3/4 view, no spoiler on our car). Our car also has a silver pin-stripe that runs through the door handles, it's subtle so it doesn't look too bad, but I might take it off eventually (not a big fan of pin-stripes). The black pearl really pops in the sun, can't wait to get some Zaino on it. I think that if/when I re-paint my black Dak R/T, I'm going to have to make it black pearl too.

Nice purchase, getting alittle sick of seeing them running around but they are nice and cannot go wrong w/ that big ol 8 under the hood.

I used to watch customers come back onto the lot to see their trade-in car with the new asking price as compared to the price they got on trade. Good entertainment. Thankfully back then the mark-up on cars was alot higher so it wasn't as painful to watch.

Wow! Hate to see ya go but it is an awesome looking car... the 300 that is. Please check back in from time to time and let us how it holds up. I really really like the 300's but have never owned a Chrysler/Dodge product nor has any of my family.

I got a little more than that, but they came down a sizeable chunk from the sticker on the 300 too, so I at least "feel" like I got a good deal on the trade-in. My payments actually ended up being $3 less / mo than on the LS, and insurance is only $50 more / 6mos. Not complaining. But I don't think they are complaining either w/ that LS, its in pretty good shape w/ low miles and drives perfectly fine (notice the nice 235-55-16 Falkens??). The only thing wrong with it (aside from the aforementioned spotty repair issues) is the driver's seat heater needs repair, the auto-dim rear-view needs repair, a couple of plastic trim pieces behind the passenger seat had gotten knocked off (in the trunk), the windshield washer intermittently didn't work for no apparent reason, the chrome trim on the center dash vents had fallen out, two minor parking-lot bruses on the exterior, and a scratch on the rear bumper cover. The battery was less than 6 mos old, I had purchased an extra 6-CD cartrige for the changer, and I just put in a new cabin air filter and engine air filter (when I pulled the CAI off). The LS has every available option (including the analog phone, the nice Alpine w/ 6-CD in the glovebox and subs in the back shelf) except the sport package / SST. In fact the finance manager was asking all about the LS as we were doing the paperwork, his buddy was looking for a black LS.

I did forget to mention that I'll be pissed if I get passed on the highway by my own car. I've personally been over 140 in that LS and believe its limited to 145MPH, while I'm pretty sure the stock 300Cs are limited to around 135MPH.

Fair sentiment, there ARE alot more 300s than LSs on the roads. But, there is also ALOT more aftermarket support for the 300 and many more ways to make a 300 distinctive from the rest of the herd, not to mention mod potential for the engine since it is shared with many more vehicles than just the T-bird and a Jag.

The net effect on my deal if I paid sticker on the 300, they paid the taxes and gave me $9500 trade-in on the LS (owing $4220 on the LS loan), before my company's employee discount. Our 300C's only option is a moonroof, but the only thing the LS had over the 300C that I've been able to determine so far is the analog phone (which I never used anyway) and the auto-remote-down feature where you press and hold the unlock button and all the windows and moonroof opens on the LS. The 300C also came with Sirius free for the 1st year. Oh yeah, my wife already misses the "Oh Jesus" bar the LS had.

Payment wasn't an issue as I bought it out right so their is no lien. Curious as to why there is SO little difference in insurance price when the cars are so far apart in value. I thought it was a fluke (and wasn't going to complain to AllState) but now that you have said this seems it isn't a fluke.

Yeah, that's old news. SO? The air flowing through the heads don't seem to care. So the marketing punks these days are quite up on their geometry like they were 40 years ago, no biggie. The engineering guys still got their homework done.

Nice choice on the M45 BTW, I would've considered one of those if they weren't so pricey. But we were considering a G35 sedan, nice cars. Nissan / Infinity is about the only foreign make I'd consider, solid engineering and bolder styling than Honda/Acura or Toyota/Lexus. And the Germans (BMW/Benz) are over-priced, over-rated IMO and aren't any better than GM, Ford or Chrysler in reliability.
