Greetings,

I have a 2002 LS V8 Sport, with about 53K

I am having a problem with the Advance Track system, I can tell that by the message on the display that states, Check Advance Track.

This is the 2nd time that this has happened. I have already taken the car to the Dealer, they said that the sensor needed to be re-calibrated, so they re-calibrated it ($100), and the problem reoccurred the next day, so I will try to resolve this problem myself. I have an OBDII tool, how can I access those codes?

Thanks, in advance for you help.

Bruce

did they recalibrate the sensor or replace it? The codes will certainly help out. Mine recently fubared and I had to replace the sensor.

They recalibrated the sensor. My question, is which sensor, and how can I get to the trouble codes?

Thanks,

Happened to my '03 just last week, but it was under warranty and they replaced the sensor.

My warranty expired @ 50,000. Do you know what sensor they replaced?

OK more than likely they recalibrated the control module. I just checked the procedures and it is in the first steps for TSB 03-2-3 and unless their is a wiring fault you will have to replace the sensor.

You will need an OBDII scan tool to read the pcm and you may possibly need one that can read the Extended Code set that Ford Uses.

I have an OBDII reader, it is a MAC (I think) I plugged it into the connector and it said no codes found, even though the AllTrack warning light was illuminated and a Check AllTrack message was displayed.

The code is in the Extended code set that ford uses. OBDII on standardized 1000 codes approximately so unless you have a scan tool than can read the entire range you wont get it. The tool you have is more than likely design to OBDII spec and nothing more.

Check to see if you can buy an upgrade for it; you might be able to add the code set to it.

Hmmm.. I wonder what happened to me the other day. I was accelerating (hard) onto the on-ramp and went over a good size pot hole. The traction control light went on and stayed on until I restarted the car. Anyone ever have this happen to them?

hasnt happened to me but I suspect the wheel sensor stopped sending data to the the abs control module. Mine illuminates when it has to engage to prevent wheel spin but it always goes out afterwards.

That is what originally happened to me, now the light illuminates more frequently.

Am I the only one who hates the tract control? First thing I do after starting the LS is shut it off, almost got me hit one time because I pulled out and spun slightly and there was no more power to get out of the way.

If you hate traction control on the LS, then you'll hate all traction control systems. I have traction control on my 03 Mustang Cobra, and let me tell you, the system on my 00 LS is 20x better. On the cobra it's like surges of power, bog, surge, bog, surge...The LS you can 'drive though' the TC usually, unless it's big.

That being said, if it's dry out, I usually turn it off (as I do in the Cobra).

mine's off unless it's raining.
since Im in seatlte, sorry to say TC is on most of the time.
but I have to say, traction control has made me avoid few dangers.
when you need it, it's a life saver.
Do leave it on when it's raining. maybe not now but one day you'll be glad that it was on.

Are you sure its the car that almost got you hit...........

Yep, sure am, if it was off I would of not had a loss of power instead just alittle spin and would have flew away, but instead I lost about 2 seconds while it was being a baby. I know many well argue it would of been or could of been the same deal if it was off but I was the one in the car and know for sure it was the TC fault. Oh and most of time if the weather is slippery or wet I have it on.
