I am looking at a 93 VIII, with 78K miles, that is in fantastic shape inside and out. Also, it has 14K miles on a rebuilt motor from the Ford dealership 16 months ago.

The guy showed me the papers and he spent 4300 on the new motor (+ new torque converter)....so the motor has 22K or 20 months remaining on warranty.

He's asking $7500....I'm just not sure how much of an impact the new motor/warranty should have on the blue book value....which is about 4500.

Am I getting a deal, or is it about right....what do you think.???
(I just like the idea of having a fresh motor!!)

I would'nt pay 7,500 for a 93.

I just bought a 98 for 7,500 in REALLY good shape. I would try to bring the guys price down. 22K on the engine means it's not a new engine, and should'nt affect the price. Tell him he needs to come down and then you'll talk.

Why did it need a new motor and tranny after only 50k miles?

Also how are they airbags. With 78K miles and 12 years, they sound ready to start leaking. Easy and reasonable to change, but that should be reflected in the price as well.

all he is doing is trying to get his money back from the rebuilt motor plus the car. i would just give him the money he spent on rebuild, $4300 should be the price! i agree with calabrio, check the air suspension... that car probably has the original struts, but it does not hurt to double check it. good luck!!! $7500 hahaha!

I agree with JoeyLincolnMk8 - you're gonna have to put a couple of thou in the car over the next 2 years anyway since it's a 93, so if he won't come down just go get a 98.

Take the Air suspension relay out and stab the bags overnight and ask them
if 2k is good.

I paid 3800 for my 95 in damn near perfect condition with 96K miles on it... only thing wrong with it is there is something wrong with the front 2 bags... 7500 is WAYYYYY too high!
