Hi folks. This is a great forum and it's very much appreciated. I presently own a 94 TC Executive-bought 9 years ago. Previous owner had it sound proofed and lived on the lake with car outside 24/7 and the rust has gotten to the point where part of the frame is gone. Wife and I were going to purchase something other than a Linc but are now looking at another Lincoln...we are hooked on lincolns.
We can't decide on either a 2000 TC or a 2003 TC Cartier...I'm leaning towards the Cartier. I will be taking it in to my mechanic (have used him for 25 years) and is extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. My question: is there anything I should be looking for in regards to buying or if the 2000 is better/improved in comparision to the 2003? In researching it appears a few nice upgrades in 2003 and some of the Cartier extras are sweet.
Thank you in advance for any info/help provided.
P.S. feels really good knowing we'll be owning another Lincoln:D
P.P.S. spent about 2 weeks researching LS, Grand Marquis and other cars and it just makes sense to buy another Lincoln.

go for the 03 but both are great cars
the handling is much improved for 03 cant think of any think else right now

Thanks a lot for the advice slowmkviii. I was kinda thinking the same...doesn't really matter now as both are SOLD:( Now looking at a 2001 Grand Marquis....Lordy I cannot believe how popular Lincolns and Grand Marquis are. In the last week I've responded to sellers within 36? hours only to be told they're gone!!! Makes me all the more adamant about buying either a Lincoln or Grand Marquis.
P.S. I've got some links I will eventually be posting and plan to be an active member here. Now have to convince the wife about becoming a LVC Gold Member...times are tight but I'll find the dough somehow.
Cheers and thanks again.

to bad you are so far away
my friend sells cars and knows of a 98 marquis with 20,xxx miles I think and are selling it for under 7 I think

Damn missed out eh:/

Well anyway here is some info that could help you when looking for a new TC.

Between those two definately go with the 03, they are both nice cars yes, but the 03 is in my opinion cooler looking and has the newest body style.

Also a big thing is. 96-02 Lincoln used a plastic type intake manifold that are faulty. Grand marquis used them in the same time span I believe.

"my friend sells cars and knows of a 98 marquis with 20,xxx miles I think and are selling it for under 7 I think"
!!!! just my luck but I will be persistent and find something.

Yeah cars are sooo expensive up here and there's also the extra 14% tax we have to pay and also an annual $60.00 "tax" to the city. Yeah I know about the nylon/plastic intake manifold and if it hasn't been replaced I have a site that details, with pics, on how to replace orrr just take it to my mechanic. A friend owned an LS and sold the car because of all the problems-failed tranny, coolant problems, coil problems, electrical. I told him don't base all of Ford products on one model as he's very turned off FMC.
Overall I can live with the fact I may have to change the intake manifold if that's the only problem. And I will get the car Krowned/rustproofed...when I first brought my 94 Lincoln in to mechanic he immediately said to get it Krowned-I didn't and the car rotted to pieces-the only time in 25 yrs I have not taken his advice and I paid dearly-probably the most honest, ethical and knowledgeable mechanic I have ever met-found him as the host of the "Lemonaid Show" up here. Once had problems with ABS-he quoted me a price for parts and labour and then suggested I pay for 1 hour labour for his mechanic to clean the ABS sensors/switches-if it worked great, if it didn't I was only out $75.00.it worked...sorry if I'm OT here but it's very rare you run into anyone these days with his set of skills and ethics.
Cheers and thanks once again.

Thanks for all the replies. Just bought a 2000 Grand Marquis LS-fully loaded-97,000 kilometres-1 owner, dealer serviced, no rust, no accidents, upper end Michellins with 10 K on them, intake manifold replaced (factory recall), all service records, oil change every 3000 km-total price=$5400.00 Cdn-Mechanic checked it out and told me to "jump on it"-thanks to all that replied.
Also bought mint condition 88 Lincoln Mark VII LSC-all I have to do is find room for it-LOL.
