Anyone know if there are any manufacturer's of aftermarket grills for the Mark VIII's ?

Here is a long awaited update.

I should have my first prototype of the new aluminum grill in my hands in the next week or two from what I hear from my fab guys. The aluminum bender has been broken for some time and they now have it fixed. I'm just waiting for the back log of their other work to be completed. I'll have pictures up as soon as I get the grill.

The price is still being aimed at $225, but may go up or down depending on what they give me as the final price for the reproductions.

$225 and may go up :( ... $225 and may go down :)

This is going to be a stock looking grill made of aluminum ready for paint/powdercoating/chroming right? I honestly don't need one at the moment, my grill is fine and I'm not planning on changing it soon. However I have one request people may like... make it so the grill emblem is easily interchangable (like for Geno's cobra star emblems).

after post on the other site and then posting here i went back and read the other post and he replied and said it was a stocker, so sux, :Bang

Well...if you look at it this way, ANY other place is like $400+....because every and anyone else I have called that makes aftermarket grilles do not see it as a money maker, and they look at it as a 'one off' even IF I prove that there is a small market for it they will not bring the price down....they do not see it as a money maker.

Also, if they can reproduce the factory grille, they might be able to make it somewhat custom. Not sure what kind of custom anyone wants, but it maybe possible for them to make it a bit custom after they make some initial run of grilles. Then you have to factor in the price of the factory grille. The factory grille is about the same price....and you get the chrome that chips, cracks, tarnishes, and you name it. Not to mention that if you hit a rock at terminal velocity with the grille, you end up with a grille that looks like the one on my car......or used to look like.....now I have none....I tried to fix it, and modify it and the cheap a$$ed plastic busted in my hands....I purchased one off of ebay (knowing that it was not perfect.....I did not really care because I was gonna make a custom one) and it too fell apart while I was attempting to customize it.

So, giving all of those, that grille does not sound like a bad idea. If nothing else, and if they can not, or will not do custom ones, you will most likely be able to customize it yourself (with minimal effort) without it breaking. Then you can paint it, chrome it, powdercoat it, or do what ever you like to it, without the possibility of it falling apart in your hands.....well, at least not like the factory ones. So, this grille has MANY possibilities above and beyond the factory look......just my $.02.

I hate the way the stock gen1 grill looks and I can't visualize (and I have yet to see) a way to make it look good.

Yes I am the one.

Just wanted to drop in and say hi, most of you know me from the other boards and also know I have not been online too much. You will all know when my grill fab is done. It will be here, the other two sites, and everywhere else.

My first run will be stock looking as that is where the highest calling and lowest cost came in. I will be able to do some customizing and one offs after the initial run. Horizontal bars will not be available unless you want to pay big time (Read $400 to start with), the thickness of the bars would raise the material costs and the bending would raise the labor costs. Leaving bars out and making it possible to put in wire mesh should not be a problem.

I was hoping to have this done by Thanksgiving, my money has been on the table, but the factory has been slow to produce. Grills just are not their bread and butter.

Talk at y'all soon as we say down here in Texas.

I agree 100% Thats why when my Mark became The TerminVIIIor" I really wanted something else for a grill. I made me design in Potoshop 7.0, printed it out and gave it to my body guy.

Geno the grill you have goes with your theme, a tricked out aftermarket Mark VIII. For the rest of us with mostly stock appearance, its hard to make it look good...
