get it custom done and go t-top better yet t-top over the front psgr seats and the rear.. now that would be custom, probably pretty fugly too..

I believe all sunroofs are actually aftermarket. I know at least many car manufacturers dont do the sunroofs themselves, but instead have a 3rd party do them. SO technically, their all aftermarket.

Um --- for starters - dont talk to me or anyone else here like that.

:Bang

Second - if they are all aftermarket, then the process should be the same regardless of whether someone owns the car or not. The only way it would make a difference would be if the original sunroof was an intergrated part of the manufacturing process of the automobile, which it isnt. So factors such as cutting into the roof shouldnt be an issue because every car has their roof cut into to receive a sunroof, whether new or used.

Hence, if they are all installed after the car is manufactured, then there should be no issue of leakage unless you use a shop that does poor quality.

yes in theory there should be no leakage in sunroof that was put into a car that didnt come with a sunroof.

in the past, there have been many people that got after the fact roofs, and they leaked,, thats why i asked if that was still an issue.

as far as not talkin to people like that,, i didnt say anythin rude or disrespectful, just said u really didnt benefit the thread, in my oppinion.. thats all.

not end of the world, its a foum,, there will be times people dont agree.

Has nothing to do with my being an Admin LennDawg - I dont want any of our members spoken to like that.

I guess your momma did not give you any home training. Most ppl would use their brains before they posted something like you did. All Joey was doing was pointing out a fact that ALOT of ppl do not know.

Most ppl that do not agree will take a more adult approach to it and not respond in the manner that you did......so maybe you should think before you type.....

Actually - if you think about it - if they are all aftermarket and installed the same, the answer is -- aftermarkets dont leak - and to explain that I pointed out that they are ALL aftermarket ---- Nothing smartassy.

Most of the ruder posts are between ppl that know each other and are taken as such....at least here they are, and if they are not between ppl that know each other, the member that was the instigator is inboxed and warned not to do it again.....and if they do, they get suspended.

As for the post, he was stating what most ppl do not know about sunroofs. Most ppl think that they come from the factory with sunroofs, so it was just a basic heads up.....that is it. If you knew it already then you took his post that way, because it was not meant to be 'smartassy'.

ok

that info he gave was fine,, but really not helpful whjen i was talkin about leaking issues,, he talked about there all aftermarket,,

so yes that came off smartassy,,

now if he said what he said, and incuded " but i have not heard of any issues of leaking,, know of a good roof to look at, blah blah" than yes it would of been a great helpful post,, but that wasnt the case.

i dont know him, he dont know me,, so to me it came off wrong,, now to u,, seeing u know each oither, u took it in a normal way.

i stated my oppinion bout his post,, this is a forum full of oppions... he is staff and i respect that,., but being staff the be all end all, even when ur rude, smart, or not helpfull, am i not alowed to call you out on it?

anyway this is way more drama than needed,, i responded to his post in the way i took, it.. could i of been nicer, yes,, but at the tiem, i was writibng from place that he was been a smart ass... he says he wasnt, now i know.

fair enough -

Ask I said - you should be fine, providing you use a decent installer to install the sunroof.

Lord I wanted to laugh out loud so badly but everyone is sleeping but me!

Ay any rate leak proof for how long? I mean a screen door has some period of time it holds water back. I guess what I am saying do not do it. Wait and buy another with it. I have been tempted tohave the same thing done for years becasue I settled on a car that didnt have it. The one thing that stopped my is the images of old Pintos with sunroofs. Oh lord what a horrible image.

Right technically the entire car is practically aftermarket. The manufacuter rarely produces all of their parts. frankly they are more assemblers than anything else. Yeah teh design the car but so much of the engineering on components is outsourced you could make a good case for saying it really isnt a ford, gm or X product.

Yeah - but what I was referring to was that cars dont come off the line with the sunroof installed. The car is actually taken to a 3rd party for the sunroof to be installed.

ok so basically i should not do it,, or if done, got with high quality sunroof kit and good installer?

yea i know i had some friends in past years got roofs put in and everyone of them leaked,, could be bad insall or bad roof kit.

so want4ed to know if there anyone out here that has done it,, and how they feel bout it now.
