Now that i got some money to blow, iv been looking for an aftermarket shifter to put in. Obviously there wont be any direct bolt in console shifters out there for the mark. I realy want to go hurst I would realy like to put THIS one in there, inside of the factory shifter spot. Does anyone know what id have to do to modify that shifter to fit in there, would that even be the right shifter for the 4r70w? Also, does anyone know if changing the shifter would change the way the car shifts, or is that all computer....thinking about the diffrence in the 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shift. Basicly what im sayin is i want to have immediate control of the 2-3 shift like you do in the 1-2 shift, and is that a product of the shifter, or the computer or the tranny itself.

also, i wanted to install 4 diffrent colored LEDs someplace on my dash, and wire them to light up respectivly to which gear im in, anybody know how i would go about that project?

That gated shiftr would never fit. The shifter well is no where deep enough. Im putting in the Hurst 1/4 Stick with a carbon fiber NOS button (Overdrive) with a Hurst Indy boot just like I have in my 1986 Capri. Fits clean and deep, functionality is awesome and the LOOK!!!

Buy a shift kit.... Not a shifter. The best shifter for the mark viii is the stock one. If you want to acheive your goal of 14.3..... Buy sh1t that improves the performance of your car.

MHM! i never looked inside the capri b4....maybe i should have, lol. I like the way it looks. When you do decide to finally put it in the mark, i wanna be there so i know just what to do for mine. If i put them lights in, i dont have a problem with any shifter in there, as long as i can say, yea...hurst equiped.
