I'm concidering replacing my stereo headunit with an aftermarket one, but i'm not sure if i will like how it looks. I just don't want some ugly stereo in my beautiful car no matter how good it sounds. Can some of you guys who have swapped head units post some pics on your installs? Or maybe if you have just seen an aftermarket install, what were your thoughts/ what units or brands looked best and worst.

I personally am riding out with the factory head unit not a huge fan of the filler piece or adapter they sell for the LS. To each his own. Good luck!

i personally like the adaptor. it allows a little mroe storage. :)

i dont think it looks so bad... but then again, to each his/her own. :steering

Tina,

The company I'm dealing with said he could make the wood grain piece for around the aftermarket radio piece. All I'd need is some dimensions of that area. He said the piece would be an exact match to the factory wood. You think you could get me some dimensions and a drawing? :headbang:

i can probably do that for ya. are all the adaptors differetn??
i cant remember if the one i got is specifically for this year car and this specific a/m radio...

i'll get something put together by the end of this week. maybe tonight, but im gonna replace the dorr handle, then i have class, so maybe after. :)

you dont know if that company makes other single wood dash pieces? no one sells individual pieces. the only one i would really want is the top center vent WITHOUT message center...mine has the hole & the plug. i really want just one solid piece for that area instead. see if you can loook into it.

yeah, its an alpine h/u... under the headunit, is a DEI bass knob from when i had my sub/amp setup. just been too lazy to take it out!
i drilled a hole in the back of the headunit adaptor to fit the cord thru there. i stick my headunit remote in there too... you can fit a pack of smokes in there, papers, whatever... just storage really.
possibly a smaller equalizer too...

i picked out my headunit based on the fact that it plays cd's and mp3's and that i've had alpines before that have been good to me. also the fact that its got green lighting and matches the rest of the lights on the dash in the car...
