Well, my air ride compressor finally died, after making lots of strange noises for the last few weeks. I turned the air suspension switch off in the trunk, and it hasn't gone down much in the last week. I also have a spider valve, so I can pump it up in case it does sag. I am looking for a new compressor, though, and found that there's quite a few choices.

The first one is from Eddie at American Air Suspension
http://www.americanairsuspension.com/mk8-american-eagle.htm - $160 shipped

The second one is from Arnott
http://www.arnottindustries.com/parts_Lincoln_Mark_VIII_8_yid7.html, normally around $180, but can be had on ebay for $162 shipped.

The last one is from Strutmasters
http://www.strutmasters.com/lincoln/mark-8.htm, and costs $145, but does not come with the dryer, which costs $35 on top of that, for the total of $180.

Does anybody have any experience with either of the 3 compressors above? Which one would you go with, price not being an issue? Is there better options out there?

Thanks!

Thanks for the q Russo and the answers 1wykdmk8, I know, I know I HAVE been reading the tech articles here and there, but you know me, I'll still have questions.....

I agree with Ray, you can't find a better one than with Eddie, i bought my air ride compressor from him for my Town car and it work s good!!!

when I replaced my compresser/dryer I got mine from strutmasters.... I called them they do a e-bay price match
so I got copressor/dryer for $99. I'd give them a call .

The one I bought from Eddie several years ago is still going strong. I use it to fill a seven gallon air tank alongside another aftermarket compressor. It has done an excellent job and I highly recommend it.

I'm leaning towards Eddie's so far, thanks for the replies.
Kale, can that aftermarket compressor replace the stock one? I'm willing to pay extra for something that will have more CFM, to pump up the system quicker after a full drop with Ray's kit (which is great, by the way, thanks Ray).

i agree, bought mine from him, the phone support was great while i was installing it - he even answered a lot of my questions about the suspension well before i decided to buy one from him.

You could get a better/more powerful compressor to work, but the results will be pretty dismal unless you are using an engine driven compressor. Any electric compressor will be S L O W if it is given the job of raising the car entirely by itself, without the use of a tank.

I drove my car daily for five years with Eddies pump and I PUNISHED it EVERYDAY. It ran all night long (intermittently) until the battery died on a few occasions when the tank started leaking. Twice I thought it was down for the count - but it got right back up to finish the job. It has some type of thermal protection that will keep it from destroying itself.

I don't know if he did anything special to the one he made for me because he knew my intentions, but I would definitely buy another one. As a matter of fact, I didn't even buy the one I have now - EDDIE GAVE ME THE COMPRESSOR! Plus - I didn't even have to pay shipping. :) That should tell you something...

I've bought items from American Air Suspension before, and I would again should the need arise. Eddie will help you over the phone if you have trouble making the installation.
