First time poster.
I've read thru a few of the posts here about air-ride fixes, and I'm going to post my problems and see if anyone can help.
**Note: I'll be trying the 'soap spray' on th elines when the wife gets back with the car first.**
Now then, here's what's been happening on our 1992 Continental that we've owned for almost four years...
A few months ago the air-ride conked out. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. What we would do was shut off the trunk switch for a few minutes to reset, restart the car and turn it on, the when the car leveled, we shut the switch off and the car would stay level for at least a month.
Then it started to only go down on the right front. Then it would occasionally hold air for a week or so all around, then sink at all fours. We discovered that a link bar was broken on the right side, and we rigged it to work, since a new one was fifty dollars. Then every so often it would stay up, then go down again.
And during all this, occasionally we would hear air escaping from the left rear side, but the next day, it might have pumped up and stayed up for a day or so. Then, for almost a full week, the air-ride worked perfectly.
Now, we finally bought the correct links at the dealership, for both sides (since the left arm was cracked after inspecting it). The first day, only the back end went up. After driving it hoping for it to level, all fours have sunk to the ground, and won't pump back up.
We've turned off the switch in the trunk for a few hours. The air compressor is running. But for some reason, since installing the links, it just won't work now.
And the links are the right size, as I removed the left one to look for the measurement stamp (210 mm) and the color dot (blue). The left side was molded in grey plastic, the right in black...and that all matched the originals on it.
Because it's held air and worked properly for days in the past, I had ruled out leaks, but now I've no clue what's going on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!!
