New Mark VIII owner here. I bought a 93 about 7 months ago and I want to start doing some things to the car. The previous owner did a coil over conversion, my question is it worth going back to the air ride?

Check out www.americanairsuspension.com for pricing information, then make your judgement from there. This is a very opinionated argument on the forum, some will say yes it's worth it, some will say no it's not. It's usually a matter of how deep your pocket book is, likely you will need a complete setup. Compressor/Dryer assembly, Solenoids x 4, front struts, rear bags, Height Sensors x 3 (if they are missing).

You can obtain all the air ride components, minus the height sensors from eddie at the above website. My total came to $771 which does not include shipping, just to give you an idea on costs. Then you must figure in labor to install everything unless one does it them self.

The height sensor will probably be a junk yard find.

Hey, if i had the $$ i would switch back to air in a second! I hear the spider valve is a good addition to prolong the life of the system. Coils are ok, but they are heavy and give a worse ride over poor road surfaces.

:) I like my air ride on my mark viii, If it needed repair I would fix it. But if it was converted to coils I would leave it alone...Better off using the money on other up grades..IMO:D

Spider valve is great!

I put a frankenstein compressor together out of 3-4 broken ones, and put a spider valve on the car.

That frankenstein compressor is right at 200K miles right now, I cant imagin how long a "new" compressor would last with a spider valve installed.

IMHO the spider valve is worth it's weight in gold!
