after the slamming you gave me about expressing my opionon NO WAY would I give you any suggestions.:slap:

I do not slam anybody ever, so please be kind. What does the removal of the silencer do for the car?

It gives the car more air which will make more power. :D

Suppose to make more Power... Give you a little meaner sound...

Doesn't the Computer recalibrate the engine after it reads the change in air and the next time you start you would be back to square one unless you change the computer?

I forgot where I heard that, so I can be way off...

You can bypass the silincer by using a conical filter as well. It's a lot easier to put a conical on then to take the silencer out plus you get more flow with the conical filter compared to the stock air box.

If I remember there are several nuts holding it on from the top so you have to take the air box out to get to them. It is a stubborn bugger to pull out, I took a crow bar and pushed down on it from the top. Some people take a Dremel and cut of the studs to make it come out easier. It will make it easier to change out the compressor in the future as it sits right on top of it.

when I removed my silencer and installed a K&N air filter my check engine light came on and the car was idling rough, I was freaking out thinking that I screwed it up so I disconnected the battery for awhile then restarted it then it ran perfect. it was not used to getting all that air so the computer had to be reset.

I just did mine this past weekend. Two of the rubber mounts broke off and I had to cut off with a dremel. Just watch out for the air lines that's about it - took 15 minutes (after the wheel was off).

its stupid easy. and imo, if your getting a conical, take the silencer out and put a tube going into the hole, and then put the filter in there. its like the mustang's cold air, but at the bottom.

I'll stick with my "hot air" conical with no bends before the mass air sensor. Any type of bend that is before the mass air sensor is definately not good...
