has anyone ever tried repairing struts? Here's the problem, my front end has been dropping for the past week. sprayed down both bags, nothing! Well, today I tried at it again and found that one of the struts is leaking from top. I'm confused here because there's a nut and bolt on top. I'm thinking that I may be able to tighten the nut and that may be the cause because the leak is right on top where the mushroom shaped cap presses onto the strut. Any ideas :(

There are two o-rings that seal the shock shat to the plastic housing. Take it out, take it apart, and inspect the o-rings. It would the first time I heard of this, but very, very possible.

can that be done without removing the strut? I really don't feel like going through the pain of that if I can just take it apart from the top end

You can get to the top o-ring without removing the assy, but there is another one just below the top mount plate. Change the top one and see if it fixes the problem. But if the top one is leaking then, the bottom one is leaking also :)

Haha, you got me there. It will not rest on the o-ring, just steel to steel, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. There are no specs for it as Ford wouldn't want you taking it apart.

well, I didn't have anything to remove the plates that sit on top (looks like it needs an extremely large adjustable wrench), so I gave up. I think I got them last year sometime so hopefully they are still under warranty!
