Hi guys.

I just installed my rebuilt compressor from american air. It runs... but nothing happens. Yes I installed everything correctly. Yes I shut the car off about ten to fifteen times opening the door and closing everything down each time.. restarting the comp. It doesn't run every time. But it's run about six times that I am SURE of .. and nothing. at all. I noticed my front bags have enough air in them so they're not loosely flat like they were... but the car doesn't come up/hasn't come up at all. The ass is slammed and won't air at all. Upon start up the display flashes for a split second 'check air ride' then goes away, only about half the time. Upon check immediately afterwards it says 'air suspension ok'.

I also checked all my sensors to make sure they were still mounted on their balls.. they're fine.

Any ideas?

It could also be the solenoids are not properly airing up the bags.Check the orings on the solenoids and make sure it has a good tight seal.

First I'd Give Eddie a call. You can call him today if you like I'm sure he'd answer the phone.

Have you checked the air lines coming from the compressor? The first time I changed a compressor I didn't put the lines in far enough and my car wouldn't pump up or hold air.

Start with the air leak, double check all of those air lines going it/coming out of the compressor and the springs. It's actually pretty easy to install everything, think all the lines are secure, and find out just one of them "wasn't quite far enough."

You probably can hear the air leaking somewhere.

How far do they need to be in? I have each of them in what I'd like to say.. is a full inch.

..does the suspension computer coinside the front sensor settings to the rear?

For example, I'm sensor lowered quite a bit. So if my rear sensor got compressed when I drove it home with pretty much no air in the bags, then would the computer get confused with what it should do with the front?

Maybe it's as easy as my rear sensor needing to be extended a bit. It's sunday .. I'm lazy lol. Let me know if you guys think that's a good possibility.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it.

I've heard of that before. The rear sensor might be out of range. Try jacking up the left rear of the car a few inches and then key on again.

Thanks Bill.

Actually, when you lower the car you compress the front and extend the rear. So you extend the rear bracket. SO, when I drove the car it might've pushed that bracket upward making the car think it sits where it needs to. If I jacked the car up, it would think it needs to dump more air. But the bags are empty.

I need to check that sensor and compress it a bit to bring the car back up, hopefully they fill afterwards.

I'll update. Hopefully this solves the problem. Thanks again!!

That should be about right. I had problems with one of mine when I put the spider valve on it. Everything worked when I had the car up but when I let her down the leaked out.

I called Eddie and he informed me what was wrong. Once in awhile the lock system on the tubes locks before they tube clears the needed depth necessary to seal.

What I meant was, if the rear is slammed, the sensor is compressed too much, possibly past it's useable range. I've heard people having this problem when they change the rear air springs and the rear is slammed too much.

You are correct, normally, jacking the car up would vent the bags. But if the sensor is past it's useable range, jacking it up a little might put it back into it's range. I'm not talking about jacking it up a lot, just enough to extend the sensor a bit so it's not bottomed out. Maybe try an inch or two.
It's an easy thing to check.

Yeah. When the old line got pulled out of the new compressor part of it got stuck inside. That or since it didn't seal I pulled it back out and ripped it and that held it up. I don't recall stretching the line, it 'almost' came right out because it was hardly in. If it was MY line that got stuck inside I think it would've sealed the first time. But I could be wrong.... I think it was stuck in there when I got it. I pulled that out and now it works. :) Problem solved.

It explains why none of the corners would air up. If one line isn't sealed then none of the system is sealed.

Thanks guys!

that makes sense! If the sensor is compressed so much that it doesn't know WHAT to read. You're a smart guy, Bill, and I always appreciate your input!

Thanks but I guess I'm not smart enough to diagnose your leaking air line.:)

I should have known better, if there was a problem with the sensor, the pump probably would have never run.

Glad you got it fixed.:)

Sorry to be waaay late on this, but trust me pony, when "I" install the collets in the dryer, there is NO piece of air line in there. That nylon air line they use is some tough stuff. If it broke, it was either very cold or was horsed out pretty hard.
